Details. Some people are so fussy.

Though, if you think about it, the 1992 was first sold in, what, September 1991? So technically the Viper turned 10 in September and will turn 11 this September. The cover of the mag doesn't say "2002 is the 10th model year of the Viper." Whatever.

BTW, nice tips there in your avatar, Mark! They do look good, don't they?

Can't say I am the best at counting but it adds up to 10 years to me.

Just in case you might want to know more about the '92's; only a few Vipers were assembled during 1991 and they were preproduction vehicles. None were considered part of the 1992 production run except for 3 official production Vipers completed in the last 2 weeks of Dec. 1991. I believe that these 3 cars were needed for the new car Auto Shows across the country and to meet the 3 year concept to production deadline that Chrysler wanted to claim.
The completion of the 4th production Viper did not take place until the week ending on April 4, 1992. Through the last week of April, 24 more cars were built to start shipments to California customers. Weekly production was very slow the first year with many weeks when no Vipers were completed and some weeks when 15 to 18 Vipers were completed. The 1992 production run ended on
Dec. 12,1992.
The 1992's are 10 years old this year.

How can 92=1? the car was "born" in 92. It wasn't a year old when "born". I was born in '61, I wasn't a year old 'till '62. What don't I understand?

..of course it depends on how you reference the first year. But I think age of autos is based on the first year of production.......as being a one year old car.

Let's say 92 was the first year of production......then we would say that a 93 is a two year old car, because it is the second production year.

No?

Re: WHO, at Viper Magazine doesn\'t know how to count???

DC says my 94 rt/10 was 7 years and 11 months old when I purchased my warranty last December. DC will not sell a warranty for the 94 on 1-1-02 since the car is considered 9 years old. Now that muddies the waters. My vote is the 2002 is the 11th model year of a car that is 10 years old.
