Had the car out today, about twenty minutes after getting home I decided to go out again for a bit. After leaving my driveway when I hit about 3K rpm still in first I started to hear a winding sound that I have never heard before. Very noticeable. When I went into second it stopped. I cruised all the way down the mountain in second to the highway which is about 2 1/2 miles. When I turned out onto the highway in first I didn't hear it anymore while going through the gears up to fourh. I made another short 15 to 20 minute stop in town and when I left, again the sound came back at about 3K rpm, it also repeated in second at the same rpm and again in third. By the time I got to fourth it quit. I have never noticed this sound before, it is very distinctive. I am thinking the outside temp has something to do with it (90 degrees today) and the fact that it doesn't happen until I drive it after letting it set for a few. Although I have driven it on other very hot days under similar circumstances (short cool downs and then drive), I have never heard it before. Has anyone had similar experience or any idea what it might be?
