Does anybody know what the length of a stock wheel stud for the front of a 2002 GTS is? And also the thread pitch. Have to use a 10mm wheel spacer due to running SRT brakes. Thanks in advance.

I am NOT a guru by far...but I will give you information on what I have and had done.

The thread size on the lugs were 1/2 - 20. I cant remember which number was the thread and which was the pitch. This was for a 2000 GTS. I assume that this would give you information on the studs at least since they have to match.

10mm spacer might not be a good idea. I use a 6mm (1/4 inch) and I just barely have enough turns on the lugs. If anything use ET lugnuts. I think that you are supposed to have at least 7 complete turns on the lugs to be on the safe side. Could be a little off on that...but at 6mm....I had about 6 3/4 or 7 turns.

I am sure that others will chime in to give you your answers though.

1/2 is the diameter of the stud. 1/2 inch.
20 is the number of threads per inch. From that you can get the pitch.

I think he meant to ask with the threads per inch was, not the pitch.

Ahhh...sorry pingi3....I needed to be educated as well too.:D Thanks Chuck. BTW, how hard is it to replace the wheel studs? Do they sell longer versions?

Need to sell my HRE C22's so I can get rid of the 6mm spacers in there speaking of which.

Thanks guys for chimming in. If I had my choice, I would not use any spacers, but my centers were already cut and powder coated. I need the 10mm to clear the SRT brakes. The rears are fine. Dave sells longer lug nuts but the wheel manufactorer said that it will not work with the neck. Or that is what I was told. They recomended I change the studs to longer ones by 10 to 15mm longer. We were going to measure the amount of exposed thread but your info helps out alot. If you are getting barley enough with 6mm then for sure 10mm will not work...........Anybody else know the stock length of the studs. I have no way of checking cause I do not have the car with me right now.

2002 GTS
Length from rotor to tip of stud: 1.25" (varied from 1.200" to 1.300")
Length of stud including knurl but not the head: 2"
Stock wheel on,length of threads that the nut can use: .800

Looks like the hub will have to come off to change studs.

Is it safe to assume that 8 revolutions(turns) equals .8"? I think that is the suggested safe rule of thumb. If so and the 10mm(.4") added to the stock stud length from the stock wheel out, equals (.800" - .4"[spacer size] + .4") = .800...... I think Einstein just turned over in his grave :omg:

So I would need to find a wheel stud that is at least .400" longer than stock. Please tell me it is that simple.

it will not be tracked but even if, I feel pretty comfortable. DPE is making a custom spacer that will be pressed with the center. But I would never run a spacer in the rear. Especialy with the viper since it is puting out so much torque.
