I've held off on doing the recalls on my GTS because I've seen some bad jobs out there and once it's done wrong, it's really hard to un-do. There are just a couple of dealerships out there that are experienced enough to do it right.
From what I've heard, if the car is driven on the street and not subjected to track-type driving, you 'probaly' can get away without doing the recall. If you're going to track the car, you will also most likely be adding a bunch of mods to it - and if that's the case, it makes a lot of sense to truck it over to one of the expert shops and have them do the recall work while adding all the go-fast stuff to the car. If you're concerned about the recall, keep an eye out for empty backhauls from shops like Woodhouse - if they drop a car off in your area and have an empty truck going back home, you can get a good deal on that leg of the journey.
