Corroded pedals

Hey Guys,
Has anyone cleaned the pedals on your car? My 2004 brake and clutch pedal are quite corroded, could you use a wire brush? ASny suggestions? Thanks.

Yep. Removed them, wire brushed them and then painted them metalic silver. They look great now.

Yeah i noticed this with our cars, why is it that the pedals of all things corrode so easily?
Or maybe mine just have dirt on em!

Its called patina. The pedals all come with it even new ones.

Mine looked awful! I pulled them off and soaked them in acetone over night and then tried brushing them. That did basically nothing, so I just ended up painting them silver again.

I believe they are made magnesium which tarnishes or corrodes very quickly.

yep and that stuff will burn submerdged in water- can put that stuff out, dont ever let it catch fire
