Some whistling in the dark going on here: Let's say it does get priced over 110K. How do you know it won't be worth that or that there are better alternatives? If you can't afford it, that's a different issue. I'm sure it will be a great performance value as it always has been. If the price is what CJD needs to sell it for to make the improvements it needs to make to survive the market, the right buyers will step up. I'll be anxious to see if enough of them step up. If it's a home run out of the park and Conner can't or won't make enough, those of us looking for an affordable depreciated Gen V still won't be able to afford one. If it tanks, I think the higher prices will also reflect rebating opportunities for market correction.

Ten years ago a srt was 83k

At 2% a year increase keeping up with the economy the car should be 100k anyway.

Throw on carbon fiber plus nicer interior materials plus nannies and its easy to see.

As much as i love mopar the dodge word is viewed as subpar by many.

We will all soon be in the old dodge vipers while the new owners will have nothing to do with dodge and simply be in srt vipers.

Bragging rights if you will. ?...and for some that will also help justify 130k

137k is a bit high , I was expecting something in the 110k range. 137k is approaching Ford GT territory .

I think it's likely dodge is listening this kind of threads closely we (viper die hard fans) are their primary target market. Sure now that the viper will have better interiors and driver aids they could attract some new market but in the end a big chunk of their sales specially during the first couple years will come from previous viper owners or current viper fans. There is an existing public perception about the viper and it will not change from one day to another it will take some time. Even though the ACR shatter the Nurburgring record people still think they can't corner it will take time to change minds.

Most than likely Dodge will price the car at the price point that will provide them with maximum profit. Figuratively speaking if they price the car at 1 millon dollars they most than likely wouldn't sell a single one (not good for business), if they priced it at 110K they would sell a lot more than if they priced it at 200k. However if they believe will sell about the same amount of cars if priced at 110k or at 137k... well what do you think they will do. Just think about it, if it was you selling them what would you do.

From this thread is clear to see that a good percentage of people is willing to pay the 137k. I think that if Dodge was thinking about pricing the car at 110k, after reading the thread they could have said hey they think 137k is a fair price what if we meet them half way at like 125k then they will be happy thinking they are getting a great deal and we would get an extra 15k for every unit. Of course this is just a simplification of what they do to determine costs but I'm sure this thread will help them come up with the price they need to maximize profits. I just hope that price is not too high since I'd love to get into a gen5 after they depreciate a bit. I also hope people would stop saying things like I'd pay 150k or I don't see how they can price the price any lower because all they are doing is driving the price up.

companies already have a real good idea of what they are going to list price their product waaaay b4 it ever goes on sale. this is usually roughly done at inception, meaning there is a range. that range usually doesnt span 20-50%.
also, im sure dodge/srt has a lot of very well paid individuals who do nothing but determine sales prices of vehicle based on many factors. im sure those ppl dont make their living reading a handful of posts by a handful of owners for their inspiration.

As I said what I stated was a simplification of how prices get determined. But you are nuts if you think they don't take in consideration what their primary target market is willing to pay for the car. Also let me remind you that even though we are just a few months away of the reveal the car won't go for sale until the end of this year so we are still in as you called it the (waaaay b4) period. Price might not be finalize yet.

i can go along with sampling your target market to establish a price point, but by then they already have a real good idea what the car or product will sell for and that fluctuation up or down based on sampling usually isnt that large.
my point is that this board isnt a big enough sampling. they read the board maybe they will comment. :)

It's possible that the Gen5 may cost the same or only slightly more than the 2010 cars. Every indication is that the new car will not be an entirely new design so there won't be an enormous R&D spend to recover. When you look at the other cars in the Chrysler lineup that got a body and interior makeover like the 300 and the Chally there really wasn't a significant increase in price. I don't see nanny controls adding much expense either because even the cheapest sub compacts under $15 have all that stuff these days. How much did prices go up between 2002 and 2003 ?:dunno:

I'm sure it will be priced atleast at ZR1 msrp. Probably more than I'm willing to spend on a car..but plenty will spend it. I also say this without seeing the car, I may have to change my mind on what I'm willing to spend:)

Just heard the starting price for the new Viper will be much closer to the Gen IV's price than 137k.

Even if they price them competitively with the ZO6 and ZR1 and sell a higher volume of cars they will still be very exclusive because there won't be a $50k entry level car like the Corvette.

Come on, how much does a couple of computers cost these days anyway (for the nannies). A little interrior work (maybe a radio we can hear?). Probably same engine (updated). Who knows. Sounds like $130k to me.
....dealer mark up.....I got the first one bragging rights for 30 days.....1 of 1 in bile yellow....priceless.
