Explaining Viper things to you
I have 3" Belanger side exhaust with their headers, mufflers and R/T hi flow cats, and it is loud. Not mind bending, but loud.

Choose wisely.

Hey Dave kinda looks like a glass pack style muffler? I was looking at the rear type and the muffler looked the same but my thought was by putting the mufflers back there it would kept the sills cool.seemed like the only system like that.

Too loud is up to each owner. I did not have the Belanger on my Gen 2 but have the cat back on my Gen 4 ACR and think its the best over all others. It has a solid sound and great quality.

The belanger mufflers are not glass pack they're DynoMax race bullet mufflers. I originally went with the 2 muffler version of the Belanger exhaust (there used to be a 4 muffler version). I also did RT high flow cats. It's loud. It got louder when I did my heads/cam work and a couple of tracks complained about db noise. So I installed 2 more dynomax race bullets in the sides where the stock resonators used to be. It didn't lower the volume but eliminated drone I used to get at lower RPMs. You can see pics of the insides of these mufflers in post #14 here: http://forums.viperclub.org/threads...-with-MagnaFlows...Thoughts?highlight=muffler

As you saying Oilman that you want the belanger catback, no cats and rear muffler only? Correct? It will be loud but being catless your rear-end may get dirty and maybe smelly. :D I'm quite certain we have members in the NY/CT running the setup you're thinking about. Maybe come out to an event and hear it in person? :dunno:

Hey Tony just got the car about a month now and the exhaust that sound nice to me stock is way to quite. I do want to add Hiflo cats, figure it's time to Change them anyway but trying to do this as smart and reasonable , BUT I don't wanna go cheap and do it twice ,was thinking about the borla w/hi flow cats ( great $)can't find info if it is 3" pipe? I know it's personal but I think if people think quality is a question maybe b&b or Belanger is the way ,and I liked the Belanger that the muffler is in the rear only. As far as coming out to met the rest of the locals I was thinking of going to Chucks on Saturday ( what a and incredible nice guy ,spoke on the phone for 20 mins w/ him)

Oilman,

I was hoping someone would have posted a vid or two of their setup that matched what you're looking for. I have a full Belanger system and can't tell you how much I love the quality and sound. I started out with hiflow cats and then went catless. The catless matches what I wanted perfectly, but it will dirty up your rear end and cause you to use Scratch-X on the "stains" every other wash or so. I wouldnt change my setup for the world, but Belanger can't be beat in my opinion...with cats or without. I have a vid of my setup, but it will sound a lot different than your setup due to my mods. Let me know if you want me to post it so you can at least hear the Belanger rumble and loudless of a catless system.

This is exactly what I have.

My current set up is Stock Headers and flexi turn outs, then stock cat was removed and a straight piece of 3" tube was connected to the Bellanger 3" cat back system.

Honestly, its really really loud! It was measured at 128db, so this means there are not many tracks you can get on :( But if you live near some tunnels its awesome :D

With the cats removed you also get fumes swirling around the car, great if you are a Petrol Head, but Your Girlfriend or Wife will not like it.

I do have a set of Bellanger headers to fit this winter and I think I will also go for some Hi Flow cats ;) But its a Fun drive.

Lots of Videos on Youtube of the cars noise :) Youtube user name Fatboymk, Heres a clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvIxrGkl1hA&list=UUi6VyHJ77lXMDcImq3lcgWA&index=6&feature=plcp

I had been out on a 300 mile Drive around yesterday, have to say my ears were ringing by the time I got home :D I have tried ear defenders but the noise seems to be even worse when you wear them? I think its something to do with the frequencys?

My 98 has the complete Belanger system. It's loud enough without being too loud.

I had the full Belanger system on my 2000 RT/10 Belanger headers, 3" catbacks and 3" in/out Randomtech cats, sounds like music especially at WOT. Gained me 25 RWHP and 40 RWTQ also.

Its OK on idle, and in top gear cruising at low revs, but when you drop down 3 gears and put the pedal to the floor its like armageddon, I love it. If you put Cats in it will change the noise level

I bought the car with the full belanger exhaust system installed. I drive my viper fairly hard, and after a month of driving I noticed pain in my Ears. I Bought a good decibel reader, hearing protection is recommended anything with in 5 feet at 82db and above. my readings were at idle out of gear 78db, in gear at idle 85db, 90-105db from 700-2500 RPM, up to redline full throttle 128db. Needless to say I started wearing earplugs. But i still love the setup.
