Just came back from the dealer. I drop by every once in a while to shmooze and see if there are any updates. There were two. One was quick and one was a download that took about twenty five minutes so it was sizeable. One of them included a fix for the warning about small EVAC leaks that some have experienced. That is the one where the warning goes on but there is no detectable leak. The only thing I noticed so far is that the music on my flash drive loads more quickly. LQ.

Well that is just amazing Bob,I just back from the Porsche dealer and had the oil and filter changed on the Turbo S and they did a complete updated Engine Management System as well as complete PDK download update and three more updates that were way to complicated to understand.Directly from Germany .So now, it,s even faster and shifts/launches harder than before and all up to date for ya....

I do miss that 100.00 oil change on the Viper at University, wayyyy more at the fancy German Dealer.....

Seriously FLL? This is what you do? Even your updates have to be better than a Viper update? Really? I would SO love to run across you in your car on the streets and rip your nuts off and put them in a jar-deep in the back of a freezer. Show you what an actual fast car runs like...

So in other words, since they did a COMPLETE updated engine managment system, the original magement system of your 170,000 dollar plus car was not done correctly. As to the harder launch, when your tranny, diff and/or half shafts go, report back whether they cover it under your warranty or not and, if not, how much the repair costs. BTW, how much was that oil and filter change? What does the "Directly from Germany" mean? That means nothing to me. Our engineers are every bit as good as their engineers. I do not see any German NHRA drag racing teams. Something someone like you should note since these days you seem to be all about drag racing.

Sorry. I did not ask for that data. If I remember correctly, one was for the body control module and the other was for the electronics. The bigger one was for the electronics.

Hey Bob is there any kind of campaign or number refernece for these updates?

Thanks.

This is the second time that you have essentially explained your posting as trolling.

From Wikipedia...In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[4]

Perhaps you should persue a new interest to prevent boredom, but please show some respect for Viper owner's time and patience that read and use these forums for their designed purpose. Being a previous Viper owner does not give you a pass, nor does saying you like the Gen V. I would think that as an enthusiast that you would be discussing your car with other Porsche enthusiasts, and not trying to annoy Viper owners. You're honestly perpetuating a Porsche owner stereotype that is not very flattering, and one that I generally don't see at the track when talking with serious enthusiasts.

The Viper is faster on a track anyway, despite the old tech, so frankly I'd be disappointed my car couldn't keep up with all the technology helping it.

The body control module covers the windows, door locks and a few other things. For instance, in the Gen IV, sometimes the window drop and rise on open and close malfunctioned. Sometimes it was the regulator. Sometimes it was the body control module. On Porsches, a body control module malfunction causes the owner to have an anxiety attack while speed dialing Germany for assistance.

What exactly does the body control module update do for our car?

Not needed, FLL. Take it to the more expensive Porsche forums please... I'm sure I would get hazed if I went there and bragged about every time I spanked a Porsche's ass like it was a minivan.. At least I would have fact/evidence over the mere conjecture you seem to post on here about your alleged Porch superiority (that I have never seen in real life, so pardon the incredulity).

Bob- LOL on the BCM..

Porsche makes a great car, I have owned many, but IMO they have lost their soul, except GT3. When I look back only 2 really did it for me, 1979 modified 930 (it did
have it's warts though) and the 997 GT3. Owned 3 different all wheel drive Turbos, the last one, 700 hp, was a beast, but I never liked the torque/under steer.
To each his own.

Hey FLL-B/-GTS,
Do we really need to go over, once again, the proper English rules for when to use "too" vs "to"? This stuff drives me nuts. You might have a more expensive car than the next Viper owner, but you certainly do not have a command of the proper use of the English language. It is time for you to go back and refresh your understanding of how to use words. After you master language usage, we will talk about
being the only **** in a crowd and how bragging will make you the lonely boy that no one likes and has no friends... Learn to play with others without offending them...Jerky!

Hey Tough Guy Mr. Angry Pants:
I'm not an English teacher...I just speak, read, and write the language correctly. Why don't you play well with others? Tough childhood plagued with people who didn't like you? While you may think you are tough writing anonymously, trust me when I tell you that I stand down to no one. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Try getting a girlfriend or a hobby or even, perhaps, donating your
time at a soup kitchen. Try to make the world a better place rather than polluting it with your stupidity. Do something other than going out of your way to be an ********. Get it yet? Go play in traffic if you are too thick in the head to understand subtlety.

P.S. I am a fan of the 991 911 Porsche Turbo S...it is a great car. I owned a 997.2 911 Porsche Turbo S Cabrio a few years back. A great car! However, comparing it to a Viper is like comparing apples to oranges and trying to make the case that oranges are simply superior in every way to apples. They are completely different beasts. One a flat 6 cylinder twin turbo with 50 years of constant refinement and the other an American V10 naturally aspirated with raw torque and power...You simply couldn't compare two cars that are more dissimilar. It is as silly as me flaming this Viper site stating how much better my Ferrari 458 is than any Viper out there. These cars are just different. My Ferrari is a mid-engine fire breathing dragon that is just different from head to toe. I love Vipers and I once owned three of them at the same time. I am looking to return to the fold shortly. Just my 2 cents...

Treviso you are 100 percent correct on the Porsche/458 and Viper info, however your rant about someone you do not know makes you the ********. Yes, I misspelled it on purpose, like you. So, while you my not personally like other peoples opinions about cars, you do need to stand down on the personal crap you know nothing about. You can rant back, but I am done responding to your nonsense.

If you do know me,give me a call and we will deal with it......

Would be nice if we could load these updates ourselves from a USB or SD card. They could provide the updates to registered viper owners thru the "uconnect" website or whatever it is called.

FLL-B/W-GTS Are you a spy from GERMANY looking to steal all VIPER secrets/technology?????????
All I did in a different post/thread a few months ago was mention "VETTE" and I was accused of being a GM/VETTE spy looking to steal
GEN5 secrets.
I know I will hear from him again because I mentioned another vehicle brand/model

The Viper is a car for traditional gearheads who like to experience the endorphin push allowed by actually have a cause and effect relationship betweeen the human and the car. Many of the other cars, including the new Porsches, are for the pansyheads who get off and are under the delusion that they are actually achieving something by sitting in the driver's seat and letting the computers do the work.

I feel sorry for them. They do not realize what they are missing.
