Saw that on the news this morning. Awful.

Horrific for the families involved---2 very young, inexperienced drivers....always so very sad...condolences sent from us also. ~mike & juli~

Good grief, the driver is still LIVING?!!! Man, I sure feel for him, as he has a death on his conscience now as well as rehabbing~~bet alcohol played a HUGE factor (or drugs/***)...speed was too fast...just horrible...so young....my condolences to both families and the truck driver also...can you imagine seeing THAT come at you???
Too many of these stories of young Viper drivers---they do NOT know the car, cannot possibly at that young of an age....it's horrific for all involved. ~juli

Can you imagine how many bones you break and how much trauma to the muscles and tissue getting ejected out of the drivers seat? Just to get your body past the steering wheel and dash and then go land on the ground at speed. Gruesome.

I saw this accident this morning, and my heart stopped. I swore I saw a NY plate on this car, Michgan Plates are usually blue. I purposely checked the plate for fear it was one of our members.

The pictures don't do the accident scene justice, thank GOD. I'm still shaken from what I saw.

I'm sorry you had to see that...just imagine what the truck driver had to see...all so awful.

As a coincidence, I'm in trucking, and know first hand as I had a person run under my truck, they survived. Even though your not at fault, you still feel horrible
Just a tradgedy all the way around.........

Oh, gosh--yeah, I can only well imagine...Mike is a truck driver also, for many, many years...had people smash into him, deer, cows, horses and the like, but nothing like this.....I just cannot imagine your horror. You have my sympathies as well 1) for seeing this tragedy, and 2) for the horrific accident that happened to you personally with your truck...you're right, it's NOT your fault, but I always wonder how people live with that anyway??? I know for myself, I'd just feel horrendous...as I'm sure you must feel. Our best to you, too.

Just terribly sad....

How could you not be wearing your seat belt ? Just unreal..... I sold my 05 but as I remember if you do not put your seat belt on, doesn't the darn thing beep at you ?

If Mr. Leo survives, he will probably be facing criminal prosecution for whatever New Jersey has as a DUI manslaughetr statute. Alcohol, 140 MPH, no seat belt on his 17 year old relative. He is married and expecting a child. You have to wonder what possessed him to be so utterly irresponsible. I feel sorry for his deceased relative, his wife and his soon to be born child. Assuming the facts are as alleged in the article, I do not feel sorry for him. He deserves to be punished.

Had they been wearing their seatbelts, it looks as though the passenger would have survived with fewer injuries based on how well that side of the car looks in the pic. Seeing that they both violated two basic, real, lifesaving laws, and that they were going way too fast, they got snakebit to the worst degree for no reason. It's one thing to loose control of the Viper, even for a second, it happens to everyone at least once during ownership, but it's another thing to simply ignore every basic safety precaution in the book. People under 25 should not own or drive a Viper period.

I can tell you one thing. These guys were not wearing their seat belt. They got a hard punishment. Seat belts are vital in all cars. There is a new fashon amongst young not to wear the belt. It is an important issue.

Vipers are very safe cars when it come to survive an impact. The frame is rock solid. There are many guys who survived crashes without being injured because they weared the right device. If you are concerned for your safety have a 5 points harness installed.

Very sad....my condolences to the families and hopefully, the driver will survive. I've run across several horrible fatal MVA's as a "first responder" MD and I remember each victim as if I was standing right there today......the trauma will last in that truck driver's memory forever I'm sure as mine have. The driver will certainly "what if" himself forever as well if he survives.

Agreed 100%. As soon as I read alcohol was involved, my sorrow for the driver went to zero.
