I drew these back in 2004. There are other "concept" drawings in my "gallery" on this site, that were originally done for the New York Region Newsletter - dating back to 1996.
Here is what I said back then...
"September 2004. The latest concept car to come out of Chrysler was the "ME...
This was a side-view...
Here is that pic and the caption that went with it at that time (Sept. 2004).
"September 2004. Here is a side view of the 2010 Gen IV Viper "concept sketch" based on the "ME Four-Twelve" design language... I removed the twelve injector stacks under glass on...
I had created a front-engined "concept drawing" years ago. This old image has almost 12,000 views...
Here is the pic and the caption that went with it at that time (Sept. 2004).
"September 2004. The latest concept car to come out of Chrysler was the "ME Four-Twelve". The "ME" stands...
I did this midengined Viper sketch in 1998. I thought a Viper should try to win the Le Mans 24hr overall. At that time the top class was known as "GTX".
I did a few others after that, and they can be seen in my member gallery, some with comments...
Mostly they were done for a low-res VCA...
This image first appeared in the NY/CT VCA newsletter, in the summer of 1996. Since then it has had an interesting life, often reproduced without any attribution, and once even being mistaken for proof that a mid-engined Viper was being worked on by the factory, - and another time it was...
Here is a similar "street" mid-engine pic that I created (from my gallery on this site)...
Caption: "Here is another midengine SRT. This one was based on a picture I saw on the internet of an SRT convertible sporting a really well designed aftermarket hardtop... "
It has been a couple of years since I have done some of these.
I would like to take a shot at "sketching" the next gen Viper, but aside from the "big hood" facelift prototype spy pics, and a general sense that the Viper will undergo a complete remake sometime around the time the Firepower...
Here is a better (cleaner) example of this kind of thing (except rear engined to front engined this time - instead of front engined to rear engined)...
From my gallery (on this site). Caption from gallery included...
September 2004. The latest concept car to come out of Chrysler was...
I created that image. Check my gallery for more (maybe better) images. Here is the caption that is in the image gallery...
"Early 2002. I picked up a low-res picture of the VGX concept car off of the VCA website, and did a quick "photochop" of what a Ford GT fighter Viper might look like, -...
I think the hardest part of this rumor to accept is the *new platform* assertion. The thread topic and the initial post reflect that incredulity - (how impeachable is the All Par source?) - It seems so far-fetched...
Why wouldn't they build the "Firepower!" type vehicle off of the current...
Any chance of the rumored Gen 4 Viper 8.4 liter motor being shown at SEMA? The Carbon Concept made its debut there after all...
From a historical perspective; I notice that the Gen 1, Gen 2 engine reference terms have been universally applied to the cars themselves. This is a little confusing...
OK - It looks like the curent Viper SRT convert and Viper SRT coupe share the bodystyle code "ZB".
The Firepower would likely share the "ZC" platform with the Viper on or after 2008?
Next Generation?
Are there any next generation sketches out there? Any clues as to what they have in mind - mild facelift, changing out fenders or hoods or something?
"ZC" body code?
Does anyone know what the "ZC" body code that is mentioned in the Allpar rumor actually mean? What is the body...
No, but I'm interested. Anyone else know of it - have it?
Also, I just posted (re-posted?) a sketch of a "2010 Viper" on the "2010 Viper" thread here in this forum. I drew it exactly one year ago, but that was at a time when the ME-412 was still a production possibility, and the Firepower...
Another angle from that post from a year ago...
2010 Viper. September 2004. Here is a side view of the 2010 Gen IV Viper "concept sketch" based on the "ME Four-Twelve" design language... I removed the twelve injector stacks under glass on this one. Some may not see this as a possible Viper...
Care to take a stab at it????? Let's see what you can draw up...
Weird coincidence. September 23rd, * one year ago to the day*, I posted a sketch of a "2010 Viper". Here is that picture and "caption"...
2010 Viper. September 2004. The latest concept car to come out of Chrysler was the...
Now that is has been revealed that the factory was in fact working on this project, I can better understand the reaction to my original drawing that first appeared in the NY/CT Regional newsletter, and was later reprinted in another Regional VCA newsletter.
I have heard bits and pieces about...
The styling of both the "Firepower" and the "GR-1" remind me of a Dodge Concept Car from (way back in) 1968, called the Charger III.
It used a 425hp, 426 Hemi and had "innovative" features such as moveable flaps that acted as "air brakes" under extreme braking... It was aimed as a potential...
Steve-
I agree with your assessment of this car, and I also agree that Dodge should be the performance brand! I would love to see this car square off against the Vette and potentially the GR-1.
Instead of calling it a "Chrysler Firepower", perhaps they could brand it a "Dodge Venom", or...
