High Octane Fuels (101, 105+) in a Viper?!?

Since I have some detonation problems on hard acceleration, that no mechanic can pinpoint, higher than 91 octane definitely improves my performance. I understand most stock Vipers would not notice any improvement with higher octane. I often mix in some racing gas just to bring up the octane a...

How Many Gen-1 Original Head Gaskets??

2 years ago gaskets replaced under warranty. About $2,200 was quote at that time. Mileage was about 9K back then. Dealer said they found tracks indicting leakage. No puddling under car tho. Greg W

    Gen I Auto Door Opener?

Simple and cheap addition. You can do it yourself. Believe me, if I did it, you can too. The illustrated upgrades show all. Costs less than $50.

Warranty expires this month. last chance...

Warranty expires at end of the month. '94RT/10. I understand no more dealer warranties are issued at this cars age. 18K miles on car. I'm bringing in the car to have the dealer check it out. Hood springs sag, hood doesn't always stay up. Covered? A/C doesn't blow cold anyway. If it's the...

Viper vs. GMC Denali SUV -- DENALI WON!!!!!

What lousy luck. The car looked beautiful. And will again soon. Your car still looks better than my stock RT/10! Manny, still try to make to San Diego run. If the car's drivable. Go part-way only? or just come down in the wife's car for a chat. San Diego Greg W

    doors on a 92-5 RT

My '94 came with a trunk button on the key fob. I used this for the passenger side remote, along with a button under the dash. It's all in the illustrated upgrades. My key fob may have been replaced with a Gen II at some point, since I was the third owner, I'm not sure what's stock.

    Possibly Buying a '94 - need help

Re: Possibly Buying a \'94 - need help Paid about that for my '94 with 8,700 miles. It had the dreaded head gasket replace before purchased. (about $2,200 if I paid) New tires a must. Rubber is old, poor grip. I got into some pretty big problems before the new tires.

    DETONATION ?

Marc wrote me this response, which is probably very good info. I should try the colder plugs also, especially if the below fix is inadequate: "Greg, I would bet anything that your detonation is caused by carbon buildup on your pistons. This carbon buildup causes hot spots that glow red and...

    DETONATION ?

In answer to Larry's question about my '94 RT/10. Bought 21/2 years ago as the 2nd owner. 17K miles. No denotation the first year. Can the timing be tweaked/retarded alittle to help with the denotation problem? I've gotten some mixed answers. The Wizard's idea of octane booster is probably...

    bigger problem than I thought?????

My rear rims are bent, both of them. The balance shop did their best, difficult to even find a place to balance those wide rear tires. Freeway vibration is actually worse now with my new tires, the theory is that the old tires were worn with a pattern the somewhat compensated for the bent...

    DETONATION ?

I have the problem with my '94 RT/10. Not real severe, but noticeable on hard acceleration, especially when it's warm. The 'Wizard' said to try disconnecting the computer for a few minutes and let it re-learn. No help. I blame it on 91 octane gas here in So. Calif. I torqued down the intake...

    Help with buying a '97 RT/10

Help with buying a \'97 RT/10 A little help please, I'm helping a friend with the purchase of a '97 RT/10. One car we've found has 11,000 miles on it. I've seen photos of it, the hood is smooth with no the scoop or duct. I thought all Gen II's had the hood duct? Maybe it was just the GTS...

    100 Octane Gas

Cruisin9, I'm in Calif. and occas. use 100 octane to mix with the lousy 91 available here. I do get some pinging on hard acceleration without it. Greg W
