that is what i thought at first, too, especially after the SEMA pics came out but i specifically asked, and he said no, he was talking about the true ACR model.
Heh, I did say that I was skeptical! Given the short time frame involved, I can wait a few more months to see how it turns out before potentially looking at the GTS instead.
I think comparing the Gen V ring time to the Gen IV ACR's is something of an apples to oranges comparison.
In any event, my dealer who has my deposit says that we can begin ordering the ACR in February. Not sure how much stock I put in that, but we'll see... perhaps we'll see both models...
It's funny but as a former porsche guy (as in I don't think I'll be buying any more of them, not that I no longer love them), I have a high degree of confidence in Ralph & co. in pulling off the execution of both SRT and GTS models. Will there be set-backs, recalls, TSBs, yeah, but that is to be...
New cars DO compete with used cars... people who go new do so for a variety of reasons, I'm sure, but they do need to be sufficiently compelling. I guess all I'm saying is that @ 140k my decision around whether to pull the trigger now include a whole host of options that aren't really there at...
I do hope they don't charge for 'delivery' if you take possession at the factory. I'd be okay with a different charge, but IMO, it should be less... I live only 3 hours away, so paying to have it shipped makes no sense. Plus, it would be cool to see the car get assembled...
While I am not surprised at the price range for the GTS, I must say it really does present something of a dilemma to prospective customers. You are now squarely in the range of slightly-used exotics (that are, granted, out of factory warranty). For 140k you are squarely in used F430, Gallardo...
What an idiotic comment... Some of us joined this board after placing a deposit on the new car. Being new to Viper I haven't had any need to comment on other threads. Not sure how this qualifies us as 'trolls'.
I know you are just sassing me, but you have to admit there has been a huge veil of secrecy around just about every aspect of this car. As a newcomer, I really don't want to step on any toes or put someone in an awkward position, given the 'mucho hush hush' atmosphere.
Yah, I agree with both previous posts. I'm more than a little skeptical, and think the dealer is trying to hold onto the money. But, we should have more concrete details in a month or two, and should know more then.
I'm a little hesitant to reveal the dealer, as I don't want to throw anyone...
So, to add fuel to the ACR fire, I emailed the dealer who has my viper deposit about cancelling and waiting for the ACR instead (thinking it was more than a year out). He responded and said that he would be getting the build schedule shortly, but that the ACR would be built this coming year. I'm...
Ah, I hadn't heard that about the FGT before... that is really disappointing that manufacturers would try to game the system and, in the case of Ferrari, try to limit people's access to cars because they are stock. Such BS. After reading that article on Ferrari, I can say that they are no longer...
Thanks! Yah, I was pretty pissed after reading that... Chris Harris one of those polarizing personalities that people either seem to love or hate, but I'm a fan, and I have even more respect for him after reading that...
Yah, I would love to know as well!!! It seems like most racing applications require a partial/complete rebuild of key components so I have to think clutch life is not a factor beyond getting through the next race. Baseless Speculation on my part...
I hear ya... I had a DCT on my M3 and it really felt uninvolving for the most part, though being able to downshift seamlessly was pretty cool... I sold the car 3 months after I got it.
I think the problem with the Ferrari/Lambo flappy paddle transmissions is that they are both single-clutch systems that eat clutches like candy. Clutch life has improved, but we are still talking ~25k miles tops towards the higher end of the spectrum. I've read horror stories of lambo/ferrari...
That color blue is crazy intense... and the matching seats look awesome. Not crazy about the stripes, tho. I hope they come out with some curvy stripes to match the new body. The straight ones look too um 'straight' for that curvy ass body!
