Given the same color, yellow or red, is there any difference between an 01 and a 02 RT/10? My understanding is that they are mechanically identical. I suppose the 02 may have some factory warranty left but otherwise, all else being equal, would one be a smarter purchase than the other? Thanks for any input.

I think in 02 they changed the water pump..Apparently 01's had some problems running hot and it was because of the water pump .

Didn't know about the water pump issue. Did Dodge official recall it? Probably not. Anyway, I know what I'm about to ask is a very subjective question but here goes. Long term, someday, when perhaps, people look back at these cars as collectible, will an 02 bring a premium over an 01 because the 02 is the final year? Everything else being equal, color, mileage, condition, etc.? It would seem to me that having the "last year of the original" might be worth a small premium someday, maybe not.

That would only be correct if you own a FE GTS!!! THE LAST OF THE BEST!!!

The pump is covered under warranty. Not sure if it was a recall or not.

I hate "investment" questions about such a new Viper. Just buy one and have fun driving it.

I hope you are right about 2002 bringing premium price. Of course that is not the only reason I bought mine.
