One thing is that I would hate to get a low number and then go crazy to get more power.

Shouldn't be a problem, but you are right that the motors are tight. I know most of our customers who have Dyno'd more than once , seem to feel the 3500-5000 area sees better numbers. By then the car usually is fairly well broken in. Scientific data, nope, just words from fellow SnakeCharmers.
