Hi,

Just bought a 1993 antenna Viper and noticed this black wire in the trunk area. It comes via the left driver side rear wall into the trunk but is cut off. Anybody any idea if this is original or some aftermarket mod?

Exterior lights are working and doesn’t look like it has something to do with the speakers since these are connected directly to the amps.

Thanks!

Maybe a battery tender connection? I've seen some hard mounted in trunks before.

It certainly looks like a co-axial cable. Can you see or feel the base of the antenna? If it were for a battery tender, I would not expect it to run thru the trunk/boot space since the battery is under a panel in the floor beneath the spare.

I am guessing it was for the antenna, does your car have an antenna on the left quarter panel? do you have Vinyl top/windows?

I have a 93 antenna car as well. It definitely looks aftermarket. There's no hole in the trunk wall like that in the oem setup. All the wires come from a tightly packed bundle through a gromet on the passanger side. Is your antenna original?
