Fellow NY/CT VCA Brothers & Sisters,

2011 is off to a fast start and we've wasted no time in setting what appears to THE Northeast event of the year. Yes, it's confirmed...the 2011 VCA Northeast Zone Rendezvous will be held at our favorite track New Jersey Motorsports Park!!! And...will coincide with ViperDays!! Those of you that have attended our track days at NJMSP know how much fun the track is in and of itself but we've taken the experience to a whole new level this year which is sure to be a great time for ALL.

The NE Zones will be doing this event in conjunction with NARRA. The host track is NJ Motorsports Park, Millville, NJ. This world class track is home to Lightning and Thunderbolt Race Tracks. The host Hotel will be Resorts Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, which is approximately 35 minutes from the track. We are working out the details to provide shuttle service between the Hotel and the track. For those members who wish to stay closer to the track we will be providing a list of hotels in the immediate area.

NEZone.jpg

NARRA will be sponsoring the track event for the weekend, as well as hosting the Viper Cup Racing League and the USGT Championship Race. The races will be televised both days on Versus. Tom Hnatiw from "Dream Car Garage" television show will be the Special Commentator for the weekend. We have a limited number of "special rate reduced rooms" at the Resort Casino and Hotel. So once registration opens up I suggest you book your rooms early. We have a banquet dinner planned for Saturday evening! So bring your spouse or significant other.

Please contact Steve Katz or myself for any questions.

:) the other hotel option is to stay at Resorts Casino. We will be having a cocktail party there Friday night and a banquet there Saturday night. Plus we are setting up a shuttle from the hotel and track (its about a 30 min drive). And there maybe some big name very special entertainment at the Hotel that night ( don't ask who we haven't been told yet ) :)

Trust me on this : This will be an amazing event

Steve, will suites be available at the track too? I assume with the races planned for the weekend, those rooms will be booked up well in advance.

Oh and if the "big name entertainment" has something to do with some dressing up as Grandma Byrd, count me out.

Tony, the suites at the track are filling up very fast I think they only have 15-20 to start with. The other option is to rent a condo at the track (they are very nice to say the least and have a couple of bedrooms) The other option is to stay outside the track at a hotel or stay in Atlantic City where our cocktail party and banquet will be . (private parking with security has been arranged in AC) we will even have shuttle service from the AC hotel back and forth from the track

Russ,
Sat and Sun are part of the event. Friday will be a test and tune day for racers that will be an additional charge. You could race your stock car if you like at the event in the the new Gt Series with NARRA. Its all power to weight based classes

Rich,
We will be running Thunderbolt Sat and Sunday. Its what they consider there pro track. All the big pro races are on that track. Sign up should be available in a week or so.

I suggest everyone sign up early we will sell out and have wait lists for some run groups. We will also have plenty of instructors on hand for the event.

Where did you book your room, at the track or hotel? Registration details should be available soon but I'm getting antsy. :)

Will there be any autocross set up? I have tracked some of my previous Vipers but this one is not ready (tires etc) but autocrossing would be a blast.

No autocross but why not track your car ? If you can use it on an autocross you can certainly use it on a track. Plus you will have an instructor in the car with you. Its a lot of fun and very safe.

Guaranteed that you will learn a a lot and make you a safer driver on the the street

There will also be Viper racing to watch, Go carts for you to race and some great parties planned.

I really wanted to resurrect our Venom Cup AutoX competition between NY/CT & NJ at ViperDays but open it up to all NE regions. It's a blast when did it at Pocono. But if you consider all of the racing/track/extra-curricular activities ;) planned for this event weekend there's just no room or time for an Auto-X event. There will be PLENTY to keep us busy. :2tu:

Knowing my cars limits, and respect for both my car and others on the track.

I have driven two of my previous Vipers at Viper days, I have been to both "Track time " School and "Car guys" driving schools and have competed in "One lap of America" finishing a best of third in class. I have learned a lot and I am a better driver on the street. I've preached the same thing to other drivers BUT, If you read my post I said I need tires I also would need a set of track pads (Brakes). If I spin out on an autocross track in a parking lot at a whopping 20-30 MPH I will knock over some cones. If I loose it on a track at speeds in excess of a hundred MPH I could kill myself, kill someone else, Hurt an instructor, and at a minimum destroy my car.

The more I read your post the more angry I get. "If you can drive it on an auto cross you can certainly drive it on the track"? That has got to be the most irresponsible post I have read on forums in quite a while. You better reconsider what you post and to who those posts are directed at. If a young inexperienced driver/owner read your response and followed your advise, would you be willing to back up that advise when any possible accident happened?

I have been to Zone rendezvous in the past that did offer autocross, that is why I asked. I Know my cars limits, I am VERY CONFIDENT of my abilities and I am looking to have a good time, not take an unprepared car on a track. I'm looking forward to the karts and all the activities planned. Thanks

Mopar Steve I am very sorry you feel that way. My comment was meant as an enticing comment to avoid some undue scepticism that people have in general about taking there car on the track and was directed towards you. I responded to this:

"I have tracked some of my previous Vipers but this one is not ready (tires etc) but auto crossing would be a blast"

I can tell you that however you may feel , my comment about a car that is deemed safe for autocross would be safe to use during our event (especially because we would put it through the same tech requirements for both events) was not based lack of knowledge.

I have 20+ years as a semi-professional driver with over 15 class championships and have been a private coach for many novices and professional teams along with an instructor for many of the popular car clubs out there. If you take this and the fact that I insure close to 1000 participants annually for physical damage during HPDE events such as ours in my insurance program then you might even consider me as somewhat of an expert on the subject. (at least my insurance company does)

All you ever mentioned was a concern for tires, not brakes, not anything else. My theory is if you think you had ok tires for an autocross then by golly they just might be ok for a DE event such as ours.

If you wish to debate your personal opinion on the matter I would be happy to have the conversation on the phone or in person so that we both do not loose the true context of the concern

We'll just agree to dis-agree then. The same tech requirements for both events? I've never used track pads for autocrossing and I have never driven street pads on the track. Also, older street tires (4+ yrs old) would be much safer in a parking lot than on a road course.

You sound like a very experienced and knowledgeable driver. I can appreciate your enthusiasm, just remember there is a huge disparity in the level of drivers here, and not everyone that posts a question is a novice. A very well known tuner had his Viper crunched when prompted by an instructor to push a little harder than he was comfortable with. Your encouragement/enthusiasm could be taken by the wrong person, just be careful.

I look forward to seeing you there, maybe I'll race you in the karts for a soda! ...If you think you're fast enough ;)

Getting back on topic for a moment, registration details/form attached. So who's staying at the Resorts Casino? I think I'll be staying there instead of the track. Wife will join and probably wants hit the blackjack tables while I'm at the track. this is going to be a blast.

MILLVILLE: Motorsports Park files for bankruptcy protection

This is where we are supposed to have the Zone Rendezvous.

Here is a link to the article:
MILLVILLE: Motorsports Park files for bankruptcy protection | The Daily Journal | thedailyjournal.com

The last paragraph says

“We wish to emphasize that none of these changes will affect our scheduled 2011 racing and so-cial events, Drivers Club Memberships, season passes, pre-event ticket sales, gift certificates, deposits or any other NJMP operation.”

I hope that stays accurate. I am looking forward to this event!

Steve no problems with events. I have 4-5 races there this year and all the sanctioning bodies are very comfortable with there situation. It was done to re structure debt. Not unlike a lot of companies are doing to take advantage of lower rates.

Everyone please remember you have to sign up for the event with NARRA and also sign up for the Rendezvous with us. Two different enrollments.

The event is starting to fill up please get your applications in. There will be no signing up at the track for this event. Once the cut off date is met there will be no applications excepted.

Trust me this is a not to be missed event :)
