When I bought my car it was kind of loud. The seller said it was an aftermarket exhaust. Truth be told that it was loud because one of the previous owners removed the muffler and catalytic converter. I have gotten used to the drone for short trips, but kind of would like it a little quieter so I can hear some tunes. A guy at a recent car show suggested adding a couple resonators to quiet it down and the drone. Any recommendations on type and size?

Might want to focus more on the mufflers or mufflers and resonators. My car has resonators with no cats, and originally no mufflers. At some point later Flowmaster outlaws were welded in. My car does sound great with resonators and aggressive mufflers, but she does drone. I'm sure that not all resonators are created equal, but they are only part of the equation when tuning parts of your exhaust.

I would think resonators would have to be somewhat "tuned" to the engine they are going on, though I guess maybe they are just tuned to damp out specific frequencies. Main point I'm getting at would be that it seems likely something designed for a V8 may not work as effectively on the Viper V10, especially with its odd fire setup.

I have 3" HF cats, 3" Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers in the sills and a 2.5" x-pipe. Moderately louder than stock and no drone at all.

I'm running a Borla 3" cat back with no mufflers in the rear. Their are mufflers in the sill however.
No Drone, sounds nice.

I have this setup with no cats and it drones like a MF. I’m in the process of putting 12” vibrant resonators where the cats would go. Will keep OP posted.

Any CEL? Do you have the up and down stream O2's installed?

Just throw some high flow cats in and your volume will drop dramatically. I have GESI and Magnaflow available. Personally, I run GESI and they had a significant sound reduction.

2.5" exhaust will be quieter than 3". 3" has marginal gains over 2.5" on a stock motor through most of the powerband.

I had 3" HFCs (belanger that are inside the frame) and 3" corsa cat back and it was too loud for me.

So I added these between the two.

Sound was perfect afterwards, still loud, way more refined.

On a few other platforms I've been on, Vibrant Ultra Quiet resonators have been recommended. That being said, I've learned a while now to just pay for quality and thus I have Belanger HFC paired with Corsa catback. The Corsa is pricey, but well worth it for drone free ride. It screams with the roof off or on, but I can still make a bluetooth call. I did try going catless for a bit, but the smell and noise after 40 minutes had me start to hate the ride.
