Another half shaft bites the dust.....(new best time)......(race info).....

Well, last night I joined Cudaman and Roof. The left shaft gave way....have not looked close enough to see if it was a u-joint only or the Unitrax shaft itself. The quarters are setting on the tires....we could see that the lower left shock mount (wishbone) is busted. There may be more damage but I got in late and the car is still on the rollback. On the upside, Our local annual charity street car race (1/8 mile)had 140+ cars. Joseph Dell came up from Atlanta, Mike Robbins, Mark G (VCA board member) and myself. Joseph made some nice driving improvements knocking over a second off his first et slip and finding the limits of 850rwhp and drag radials. We had just gotten the Roe supercharger on Mikes Venom 650R Friday and with very little road tuning he was in the sixes. Mark was running gen2 times with his gen1 on Michelins without his n02. I beat my best time to date by .25 and 3 mph with a .07 worse sixty foot time.....ran a 6.52 @ 108 and was leaving a little soft (for me),good enough for #1 qualifier in the e.t. street class. Will post damage results later.

Well it looks like the shaft is good except for alot of beats and bangs. It broke the u-joint and busted out both sides of the shock mount. I also wonder about the hub, it broke two of the u-joint strap bolts off in the hub....they will come out, but are the cap holes still perfectly round ??? I need to find a "pre owned" shock mount and possibly the splined hub shaft (my name for it) The only way to get a new hub/shaft from Dodge is to order a complete stock halfshaft and I'll be darn if I will do that.

With that 1/8 mile time you should be low low tens.

The halfshaft is binding inside and is pretty rough around the u-joint cap so it is going back to unitrax for rebuilding. Seems like unitrax is there to please and take care of us racers.
