Hey guys,

My friend Chris has been looking to buy his first viper, so he can ride with us this summer, He's agreed on a price for the car (the price is very good) as long as it dynos a decent number. Well it dynoed 474 rwhp. Its a Hen*&^*^(y Ven*&^% 550 :) Didnt really want to post the name cause I know of the history here. The "plaque" in the car says 570hp (obviously brake/crank hp) but 474 seems a bit low when considering drive train loss. Its pretty much selling for the price of a stock GTS, but it has "Ven 550" mods, big brakes, and 30k miles. What do you guys think? I know the guy was a shisterr back in the day, but does that mean the car is unreliable? He plans on taking the badges off :)

Thanks
Martin

There is a blue and white stripe 800hp for sale in Maine with a Roe supercharger on it already for a really good price, 27k on craigslist. I am fighting the impulse buy!

Joe Morri called me this morning that thing was in a huge accident and the driveability is not good lol. Guy told Joe, he wouldnt reccomend driving it as a street car. Just for drag use......I think we will pass on that. But id rather take a salavged titled POS over your "bumble bee"yellow wuss box. Seeya at the spring opener!

Just remember who POS "bumble bee" you seem to always be following, oh yeah thats right, not enough HP to take the lead!

Hmm, so its a salvage car? I think I would still give him 20k for the car, not 27500 if it has no driveability. Decisions, decisions.

it actually doesnt have a salvaged title but was in a decent accident i guess.....i mean if the seller is telling you that its only worth using as a drag car.....i mean come on its probably not even worth the ride there. well maybe it is for you cause anything is better than a car that is referred to as an insect....

How about you answer my original question on the HenneXXy for Chris.

You have your own answer.

1. Its an H car
2. HP not as described
3. Its probably red
4. Its a 2000

And the positives are?

Now if I could get that blue Viper for 25 or less I would EASILY make my money back and then some stripping it :). LOL. Not sure I have the time or place to dedicate doing that again but maybe.

474rwhp is right about 560 bhp if you are figuring a 15% drivetrain loss! If the price is very right, dont let the Hennessey name scare your friend off a good car. What were the mods done to this car to be a 550 car? Full exhaust, tune, and a cam would be my guess....

My 01 gts makes 460 something rwhp with headers, highflows, corsa, jesel rockers and smooth tubes/filter, stock cam, stock heads, stock intake manifold. The H quoted numbers are obviously BS. Be very careful. I would ask what alleged parts were installed and what work was done to it. If it allegedly has head work and cam and thats all it makes then it must be very screwed up. GTS Bruce

GTS BRUCE & Moundir,

thanks for the reply, the person selling it is just a used car dealer, talking to him about specs is pointless, all he can say is "Its a Hennessy!" We agreed on $35k for the car as long as he brings it to a dyno (we paid for the dyno) he followed through with his end of the deal, He seems like an ok guy to deal with and i think were gonna take a trip to look at the car. Now that I think about it maybe ill post up seeing if someone in the area will look at it for us first. its in GA.

Good idea! Don't take a 12 hour drive just to be disappointed! if it checks out then that's a bargain!! Good luck....

What type of dyno? Temps? SAE corrected?

Its really hard to tell anything from just that. 474 on Mustang isn't bad. 474 on a Dynojet seems a little low.
