Yeah, the remote Valentine that Ultrasmith Systems (www.ultrasmithsystems.com) installs that has the display "inside" your speedo, tach or mirror and has the controls hidden somewhere else. They can also steer you towards the jamming systems. I have used 2 different systems over the years and the only ones that really worked were black box. I 've not heard of any laser jammers only X, K & KA radar. They also make the coolest electronic hidden gun safes to keep your "piece" away from the fuzz.

The Valentine is great for the direction buttons and is very sensitive. Although I am a big fan of it I might agree with DavidF that the X band is too sensitive and results in a lot of false alarms. I'd rather pay for no false alarms and no direction arrows but I already have the Valentine. The problem is that the electronic doors, etc. that cause false alarms always hit the X band. All the cops where I live use Ka band or laser, so the X band is nothing but annoying.

You can disable the X band on the valentine if you want. You can also put it in logic mode and let the software in the Valentine determine false alarms.

A true comparison of the devices would be to have the device "optimized" using the user settings for the conditions of the test. I would like to see the results of such a test.

Current testing methods are akin to comparing the Viper to a Corvette with cupholders as a category...

For me the directional and the number of sources helps. Does the Passport count number of sources? I do like the self powered unit that ****** makes and I hope Valentine will consider batteries in the future.

Is the Passport plastic or metal? If it's plastic it would have been destroyed already just rattling around in my truck. My Valentine looks like it went down the ** Che Min trail. (sp?)

I checked out that ultrasmithsytems.com site, and didn't see anything about radar installation, but have since found ultrasystems.com, with the info. But on ultrasystems.com, I can see getting the ballistic armoring package for a viper

Lightly armored weight increase about 500 lbs (probably less on a viper), but a Venom 800 TT engine should compensate for the weight increase

Does anyone knows of other installs or have info on do-it-yourself?

99t1....i saw the site, and all is col, but it sparked an idea. I have the S2000 (which is the picture featured in this string)and now I want to get the detector put in the rearview mirror too. How is this done? Do i need to call them and see or call Valentine on monday? Any suggestions? The idea is great, goes along with some ideas that i have for the car industry.

Call Barry Smith or Michael Angelo at www.ultrasmith.com and they can answer all your questions. They are NOT cheap but do "PERFECT" work and can custom install anything. As per their site they ship cars around the world but I think the Valentine mirror is all done on premises in NYC. They can also embed radar components inside your tach display which looks real stealth.

I would go for the light armor on the Viper. I don't want to loose to much power on the track while still being protected from the occasional .38 caliber fire from flag staion 4!

Is that a frequent track problem, or just a result of normal driving road rage against you?
