Are the BFG DRAG radials any good on the 18\'s?

I would like to get some BFG drag radials for a Vette Viper Drag race. Are they any good? Should I just order the slicks and skinnies? I ordered my BTR half shafts. By the way Tom is the best! Let me know if they are worth the $600.

Thanks, Kenric

Well lets look at how they perform. I have rn high 1.6 sixties and consistent 1.7's. Cudaman has run a high 1.4 sixty and 1.5's.

Ask rdustman to compare the 2. He normally runs the drag radials and ran a set of slicks and skinnies this past Friday. Hopefully he will chime in.

I am sure there are several others who will give their take, but to me they have been the best mod that yielded the greatest improvement in time at the track.

J Smith, thanks for the info! By your numbers they are almost as good as slicks. Well I guess I know what I am doing on Monday.

Where's a good place to get them? Any tire shop or are there particular places that carry them?

When I was buying mine partsracks was selling for 5 bucks cheaper, but I got mine from Tirerack.

I have about 25 runs on mine and the BFG rep told me they would be good for around 100 passes. I am thinking maybe 75.

rdustman has already gone through a set, but I think he street races. :D lol. J/K. He hits the strip on a regular basis. Don't know how many passes he got out of his.

An added bonus for those tires would to get with John Purner @ CCW and purchase his lightweight rims. You can use John's skinny bias fronts with the radial rears as well.

There is only a few draw backs to these tires. First, they do not wear very well! I had a blow out on one of my tires and it destroyed it. Second, they do not handle with a flip! They feel very "sloshy". I do not feel comfortable running these over 130mph on the highway going straight. If the road is uneven do not exceed 80mph unless you want the crap scared out of you. Also, do not plan on going through any curves at speed. However, they have incredible traction! I can give it full throttle in 1st, not reving the motor up and dropping the clutch, and there is very little wheel spin. I had to put the kumhos back on because of the blow out and they spin quit a bit in first gear.

BTW, I called up the tire rack and told them about my blow out and since it was less than 90 days they gave me 1/2 off. I was thrilled to say the least. Thanks Tire Rack.
