The guys from the Corvette Forum are renting out the entire Famoso dragstrip (just north of Bakersfield) on Saturday Aug. 18th. We have been invited to have a little friendly rivalry with them. There will be "ONLY" 30-60 cars on the whole dragstrip ALL DAY. No messing with ricers, no bad attitudes no waiting, just lots and lots of runs on a pretty good strip. I've already confimed myself, you can read more and register at www.corvetteforum.com under "Forums" then to "Pacific Events" or e-mail the organizer [email protected] basiclly here's the deal:

They need a mininum of 30 cars (they have 23 already), at 30 cars it's $175 each at 60 cars it's $88 each, I know that might be a little steep but you own the track for the day with a great bunch of people, and I'm sure they'll easily hit the 60 mark. Hurry first come first serve.

Yes, you might be able to do that... but between now and then I'm also adding Hennessey Venom 550 heads, flywheel, CDI headers and T&D rockers, and that I'll be running drag slicks & skinnies at the 'strip. You've got a bit of ground to make up

Ben, I was going to strap a Scud missle to my trunk, that's about the only chance I'd have. Did you get your rollcage? Half shafts? Geez with all those mods you might hit low 10s.

Yes indeed -- I've got my NHRA rollbar/sidebar on the way from Autoform, and 5-points to go with it. I've got BTR Viper half-shafts. I've got a fire suit. I've got a transmission blanket. I've got a fan kit. I've got #30 propane jets. I am ready!.

Frankly, I'll be surprised if I'm not into the low-mid 10s by the end of the day. It'll all be about the launch, of course, but I'll practice first without NOS and then turn on the bottle later in the day to lay down some quick times.

I wonder what the corvette group's going to bring? There are a bunch of -fast- 'vettes out there...

The fastest Vette guy I know is Beach Bum, he's capable of 11.5s on motor only. You goin to Monterey in 3 weeks?
