Ironically, the only time I ever thought about an automatic tramsmission was when I was crusing down River Road in New Hope. Other than that, no chance unless a Ferrari style F1 paddle shifter becomes a viable option.

What about a Quaife 6-speed sequential tranny? I can't believe there are *no* auto trannys which can handle the Viper's power. There may well be no *inexpensive" auto trannys...

The stock 727 held up to 500 lbs of torque in 1970 with a Hemi and a 440+6.
Problem is nothing fits without hacking up the tunnel. There are many racing trans that will do the job but you only have a 3 spd. We need at least a 4spd if its a street car. I heard someone made the Dodge diesel trans work, but still had to cut up the tunnel.

At this point in time the only working Auto out their is Gary Dan's. Chris did (repaired and upgraded) this one. Gary and his car were featured in a recent issue of Viper Magazine. To my knowledge, there are two others out there as well, both being repaired with input from Chris. last I knew, one of them was at Woodhouse, where the repairs were being executed. That one may be done by now. Here is East Coast Performances info.

snakepitracing.com is a work in progress.......
Last I knew they were transferring the URL from one ISP
to another. The www.njracer.com site works fine

I would guess as long as Herb Helbig is the Vehicle Synthesis Engineer (Keeper of the Original Viper Flame).... no auto. I also feel, based on management and engineering comments, an automatic in a Viper is highly unlikely...... heck, a cruise control is highly unlikely!

I guess they'll leave that Market to the Renntech Mercedes

It is also a function of the fact that Dodge can sell every Viper it makes now.

I was recently by Doug Levins shop. I remember seeing them building a conversion kit for an automatic viper. I'm not sure if they finished it. I would prefer to stick with my 6 shooter...... Does me good.
