What are the best brake pads for a GEN I? Mine are about GONE. Also might need brake rotors what are some good ones for GEN I? I will be driving 99% on the street and hopefully 1% on the track.

99% street, 1% track - use stock pads.

He is propably 99% right! :D

I've done a lot of searching for alternative pads, high on list less dust and good initial bite combined with possibility to use at "fast/curvy roads with lots of elevation changes"..

I tried Mopar - Great pads, excellent braking capabilities for street use, but dust too much

EBC Greens - Fantastic in less dust, not quite as fantastic with multiple high speed runs...

I bought SBS track pads (Carbon ceramic), I have no idea how they are, but I am hoping for a mixture inbetween above two... Hopefully not a mixture in more dust/less braking power :D , the other way would be nice.

Brakeman 3 dusts and squeaks like a pig, but fantastic with stopping power.

Are ther ANY OTHER PADS out???

Believe me, squeking gets real old after a few days. My next pad is going to be the EBC Greens. I use the Brakeman 3 for track only.

I heard that Brakeman 3 pads tend to squeal is this true?

A little...

But they stop the car right now. Something those green pads don't...

Actually, I don't mind the small squeak - it's usually only heard when braking lightly and it's not very loud. There certainly isn't a loud shriek and when you brake hard you don't hear it at all. Only thing I was advised by Tom or Jon B, I forget, is to get slotted rotors to keep them from glazing when you're mostly poking around on the street... Works great for me!

Love Brakeman 3s!

I've never experienced the fade that others have with EBCs and I do run them very hard. The catch with the greens though is to make sure you have the proper set - EBC offers two different versions of the same pad and you need to be sure that your have the proper one - I found that out the hard way.

The stock pads work way better than the EBC Greens. I have the greens and under normal driving conditions it takes longer to stop. On the dragstrip they are dangerous. The one thing that I like about them is they are pretty much dustless and no squeaking.

If you do a search on previous posts, why have so many people spoken highly of the EBC Greens then? I bought a set for my '95 just before I put it away for the winter, so are you telling me I shouldn't put them on come spring? My car is 100% street, no track.

The EBC greens are probably the best for street use and keep in mind when you change pads to really clean the rotors and scuff them up a little, as different pads have different compounds and they can glaze the rotors. I will humbly disagree that the Brakeman 3s squeal more than stock pads, as they (stock pads ) are the reason EBC has done so well. The stock pads are mucho pricey, squeal a ton, and are very dusty. Both other pads are less expensive, and the Brakeman 3s, are in my estimation, the best race pad out there for street usage - usually race pads are flat dangerous on the street, as they don't get enough heat in them to work effectively. We seldom sell stock pads anymore, but use the others listed above because of price and customer wants. The one clarification, is that the EBC should not be used at the track. It has a lower heat temperature zone, so it works well for street driving. It will leave the least amount of dust on your wheels also. Good luck and hope all these thoughts from all of us have helped?

I agree with Bill about the BM3's.

And one of the keys to achieve a low squeel factor is to clean up the rotors as Bill says AND bed the new pads in properly.
