I have some but would have to scan them all. I was at caap in '96 the week of july 4th. I was there one week after Jay Leno was at caap picking up his '96 GTS. Really cool. Got to sit in the Indy pace car with it running. Saw the first yellow viper ever. made. I will have to take some time and do that.

Same problem as SaphireBob. I have lot's of pictures from 1996 at CAAP, including a Lutz interview on site. But, like much of that era, it is on 35mm film. 'Tis in the archives (called a desk drawer) somewhere.

WISHED I HAD TAKEN A PIC OF THE BACK WALL AT CAAP. NOTHING BUT V10'S ALONG THAT WALL.

IT WAS SO INTERESTING TO HEAR THAT THE A PILLAR ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR WAS HELD ON BY VELCRO.

MY DAD (WHO IS IN THE WHITE SHIRT) WAS THE ONE THAT ORGANIZED THE WHOLE TRIP. HE CALLED THE PLANT AND TOLD THEM WE WERE COMING UP. WE STAYED OVER AN EXTRA DAY TO GET THE TOUR.

THE FIRST YELLOW VIPER EVER MADE. IT STARTED OUT AS A RED ONE BUT IT GOT WRAPPED AROUND A TELEPHONE POLE. THEY DECIDED TO SAVE THE CAR. IT WAS STRIPPED DOWN TO THE FRAME, REBUILT AND PAINTED YELLOW.

Picture #11 where it looks down the driver's side where the rear fender is missing. Look at the exhaust...I see the resonator under the door and then where the cat's usually are it looks like a shiny stainless steel straight pipe...aka NO CATS.

Ok...upon a closer look...maybe the outside of the cats look machined vice the rusty old things I took off my car. Sure look pretty shiney when they are new.

Question about the pictures....the one showing the pace car, doesn't seem to have the sunroof that was in the pace cars....just curious...

It's tough to see but if you look at the pic of the pace car from the side and look at the roof, you can see a break in the stripes on it. Should be the seam of the sunroof.

Here is a pic I took of the '96 indy pace car at CAAP during VOI X. Very difficult to see the seam for the sunroof

'96 RT/10 in the background. I wished I had taken some pics of it but just as we were finishing up the tour there was a pre production prowler that had pulled in from some street testing. There were also about three prowlers on the line at CAAP at that time. Really cool.

I know this is a really old thread, but I wanted to see if anyone had any 1996/1997-era photos of CAAP while the blue/white GTSs were being built. Here's one of Jay Leno's visit to the factory in June 1996.
