I'm switching to black interior and the CHEAPEST i've found knee bolsters are 250 bucks EACH. Can i just paint mine black using good paint or better yet have them professionally done? I think this would be much cheaper than paying 250.00 each? Suggestions?

I still need:

Driver door panel
black steering wheel
black e-brake handle
?knee bolsters?

If anyone has any of these items for sale can you please let me know? Thanks fellas

You probably could, though I'm not sure they'd hold up. There are vinyl dyes out there, check Eastwood web site.
Alternately, a good trim/upholstery shop could cover them, might be $100 or so per piece, worth checking into, it's likely the best bet as far as long term wearability goes.

Good luck, post pics when done.

check with chad at snake hydes(850) 209-3133. he can recover them in either leather or vinyle...which would be the route of choice if looking to save some coin. don't paint/dye it will ebd up scuffing. tell cahd i told you to call him, he will treat you right on vinyle.

You can dye the knee bolsters. I dyed the knee bolsters on my Gen I two years ago and they are still holding up great. They do not get much sun or wear and heck you can barely see them because they mostly point down.

I also died my center console, but just had it covered in black leather to match my seats.

Also did you try Paul Scharf for your other interior pieces. He seems to have reasonable prices on good used parts and might be able to help you out.

Also are your door panels completey brown? Or just the carpet on the bottom and the center?
On my door panels, I had the bottom fuzzy carpet removed and covered with leather and just dyed the center part.
The top part was already black from the factory. Me and Dansauto used two different dye's for our interior pieces and I actually liked his dye better. It is pretty easy to dye to, as long as you do the prep work properly.

gotV10 ~ I've been in contact with Chad and i'm waiting on a response if he has any knee bolsters but i havent heard back from him in a few days so i was curious if this would work and save me money at the same time. Chads a busy man, i hate to bother him over some knee bolsters when he has more important work to do, but hes checkin for me.

ACELLR8~
What kind of die did you guys use and where did you get it from?
Yah my door panels are all cognac, i already have the passenger side black door panel, i just need a driver side, but still loking at 350 bucks for it is the cheapest i could find one.

What is Paul Sharf's contact info i dont think i know about him yet?

I hear what your sayin, $500 + shipping for a two used pieces that you never see is crazy so i'm tryin to get it done for cheaper BUT i dont want it to look cheap ya know.

Sprayed plastic dye on my bolsters. I purchased the plastic spray dye for $5.00 per can. Sprayed 2 years ago and still looks great. Cheapest upgrade and best bang for the interior buck yet. See my pics for more information.

Also, we did have to let the pieces which were dyed cure for 5 days!

Good luck.

I don't remember the manufacturer of the dye that I used. It was a spray on type of dye. I will ask Dansauto who the manufacturer of the dye he used was. You can not tell the difference between his dyed console and the black console in my Red GTS which is black from the factory. A lot of interiors on new cars now a days have interior pieces that are dyed at their manufacturer.

Paul Scharff's number is:1-800-338-4002.

a fiend of mine tried the walmart stuff, all i will say is you get what you pay for, and the person who tried it will agree. it looked great for a few weeks, then came scuffmarks, and when you cleaned it it wears.
