I'm not looking to Dodge for a lot of support on my car anymore, it's a 1998 GTS and out of warranty. I did believe, however, one of the 5-Star (what a joke) dealers would at least perform FACTORY RECALL work.

I just changed the oil in may car, no problem... And after reading:

http://vca2.viperclub.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB14&Number=263685&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#Post263856

and seeing pictures of what a proper job looks like, I know that my ******* ******* ******-******* local dealer did not do squat on my car.

Seems all they did was ... well... ******* nothing.

I guess I got what I paid for.

Does the 998 recall pertain to frame stress fractures and does this pertain to all vipers pre-1999? Are there some here that have elected not to have this recall done? I didn't mean to shoplift this thread but curious.

Do a search on 998 / 999 recall and thereis a ton of information.

There are 2 recalls, actually. One for streering rack cracking (the one referenced here) and one for the differential mounts cracking. Both are associated with cars that are tracked - usually with Hoosiers - drag slicks.

The recall is a "good thing" - but some dealers ought not to be allowed to take wheels off a matchbox car let alone work on anything you actually drive.

Since this is a safety item, both these crappy dealers should be severely reprimanded. This is inexcusable.

I have copies of each recall - please let me know if you want anything inthe instructions scanned / emailed.

Boy and I glad we have Tom Sessions looking out for our region........

Why don't we ask Christopher's Dodge World in Golden, CO if they did the recall on Dozzo's '98 GTS.

Hey Joe,

Christophers Dodge is a joke... there are only 2 Dodge dealers in Colorado you should deal with... Jim Slater at Northglenn Dodge and Glenn at Southwest Dodge... Tell either of those guys what happened and they will do a great job on your car. Tell them Joseph with the 95 RT/10 recommended you. Both of those guys really know Vipers, I don't even think Christophers has a Viper tech

I would have used Jim, but he got out of the business for a while. He's now back at a dealership in Brighton.

I've heard good things about Glenn at Southwest. I may have him look into this for me.

Thanks.

Jim got out of the business? That's too bad, last I heard he started his own Viper mod business, but that was a while ago. Glenn is a great guy too. Honestly I haven't owned a Viper for awhile now, but Glenn was very technical and really knew his stuff... If I recall correctly I think he worked on NASCAR's or some type of high performance cars before Vipers. Everytime he wasn't at work, he was at the race track.

nowhere to now here TM
I haven't had any service done on my Viper yet. I did get my dealer to throw in free oil changes for life on my new ACR purchase. I will give them a try (Broadway Dodge) if anything goes wrong, in the short-term.
