Collectibility: Celebrity owned or special edition?

Which part of the serial # tells you the build sequence?
The last 3 numbers on mine are 825. What about that maximum 819 units?

Good points regarding the #357. I was aware that the # doesn't correspond with order built (mine was blt 06/07/02), not nearly the last, but is labled as 3rd/4th from the last...

Looks like I'm in the market for a low mile FE-ACR....

Interesting thread, and I would agree with the ACR in this case. The reason is that you need to understand the demographics of your buyers and whether the thing that makes it collectible has an audience that would buy it.

In other words, how many Aerosmith fans would shell out $50K+ for a collectible from their favorite band? Not many. On the other hand, how many car/race enthusiasts would shell out that much for a factory prepared exotic of which only a few were built? Quite a lot. Go with the ACR.

Oh, and that said: If anybody is interested in a 1981 Mercedes 380SL that was bought new by Muhammad Ali (for real), a local Viper owner now owns it and is selling it. That may be worth more to the Ali fan than the Mercedes collector... ;)
