Oaky, making progress on the head gasket job on my 96 GTS. Noticed today that the my cylinder sleeves are not perfectly flush with the block deck. I have NOT turned the crank any since pulling the heads, but I noticed some sleeves are slightly low and a couple are slightly proud. Not much, I’d assume maybe +/- .005. I’ve got a height gauge at work I can use to get exact dimensions later this weeks. Maybe I’m blind but I can’t find anything in the factory manual or online on the sleeves. Am I boned or is there a tolerance range here?

I don’t think the Gen 2 is at risk from the sleeves moving when turning the crank. Just Gen 1 to my knowledge.

Oops, edited it to be correct “I have NOT turned the crank”. But that’s moot, the sleeves are what they are right now…
