As most of you have read and with very supportive replys by the way, I recently lost my Gen 2 and am now highly considering a new coupe in the very near future. I have been a Gen 2 owner all along and really dont have a lot of knowledge on the new Viper. What are the factory coupe differences (other than colors) between the 08 and 09 model years that I should know and take into consideration. Please be specific so I can decide between getting an 08 or 09. Thanks again. Mark.

I myself, considering the 08 or 09, have read that the only changes from 08 to 09 are a modified steel frame, modified fuel tank and filler and a revised center console bezel. Colors of course and now an optional 6 spoke wheel. Other than that to my knowledge it's the exact same car. Others may have more information.

The differences that Chrissss mentioned are the only changes. there is an article in the last Viper Magazine that explaines it. of course as I am sure everyone else with an 08 coupe would say, your best to get the ACR. Not just for looks but the aero package and suspension really help control the 600HP. Its a HUGE jump from Gen II. Very different car! plenty of choices available to you right now so just take your time and get exactly what you want. I wish I had waited and gotten an 09 ACR.

The PCM programming has also been tweaked for larger sensor ranges (very little) and better throttle response. This is nowhere near what the Mopar PCM provides but a small change none the less. I would not think that anything but the colors would sway you away from the 08' though.

This alone makes the 09 preferable. I have DBW on my daily driver and it is noticable. I don't care people say they get used to it. If I have to have it, I want to experience it as little as possible!!

This will still vary from car to car as it did at first so this alone is not a reason to go the 09' route. Plus there might be a reflash to fix this for the most part.

I would be surprised if the reflash is not offered. I had the last 08 reflash done by one of the SRT engineers at the VOI. He had the 09 in his computer, but said just to play by the rules, that would have to wait. I think there were at least 3 different versions of the reflash during the model year. Each one has a part number. My car was early, and had the original flash. I had no issues whatsoever with the car, but was advised to have the reflash done. I could tell no difference afterward.:2tu:

get the 08 you save some money and get the best color available imo ssg

Believe me, there will be big discounts also on the '09'. There are still a ton of '08's out there. There is no light at the end of the tunnel anytime soon for the auto industry.
