My '00 GTS was built in 10/99 and from what I understand probably has the powder metal cylinder sleeves. It seems to be using oil - I'm currently keeping track of how much, however, I was wondering if there is another way to tell if my engine has the ring seating problem associated with the powder metal sleeves? Also, given the flap about extended warrantees in other threads on this board should I be concerned about mine being honored over this issue? My warranty was purchased through a used car dealer that also owns a Chrysler-Dodge dealership.

Go see your Viper Tech...work with your dealer and you should be OK if indeed you have one of the early "problem" 2000 Vipers.

Good luck.

How do they actually determine the problem? Comression tests? Leakdown tests?

In other words, do I need to provide some kind of proof of oil consumption?
