Laurie, which model eclipse is that? I had bought the 5504 model and had problems with it. Mine also made noise with the cd playing and was fine with the radio. I heard static mostly when the cd was playing. I just took it back and they ordered a brand new 55040(newer model) and have had no problems. Tapping into the stock wiring harness should not be the cause of your problems. You may just have a unit that was made during a bad day at the factory. That was the only thing we could figure out with my old one.
