I want to take off the original RT/10 emblems (1994 Red) and replace them with Chrome. However, I really like keeping the car stock when I sell it so I am either:

1. Looking for a set of stock emblems to keep (the car is red so the emblems are kind of orange.)

2. Figure out a way to carefully take them off and keep them in good shape in case I want them back on.

With all the brainy people on here I thought maybe someone might have an idea or has done it themselves. Thanks. :)

Very difficult to re attach the die cuts when you take them off. You could try taping over the decals with a sturdy tape that will adhere well to the letters. Then use a heat source to loosen the glue on the letters. You will need a plastic razor blade to scrape the letters off all together so the layout is intact.

I agree about the tape to keep them together but the easiest way to remove emblems without damaging them or the paint is to use fishing line.

Use dental floss and a hair dryer or heat gun on a low setting.

Tony, are you saying that they would then be re-suable someday if stored right? Probably store them on some non-stcik paper similar to what some decals are adhered to. Right?:)

I suppose if you're really careful and take your time you could take them off without ruining them. The heat helps loosen them from the paint and dental floss is thin yet strong enough to work between the letter and paint. The ones I removed I stored in a coffee can with some bolts and other items. I really don't plan on every reusing them again.

I didn't use heat but the sun is plenty warm here:cool: And I have no idea what test the fish line was because I don't fish;) the clear contact paper for drawers and shelfs which can be found at walmart works great as a backer to keep the peices in place then a peice of wax paper to keep them from sticking to other things. and 3m makes the glue for the decals and you should be able to get any good body shop to reaply the glue for you.

Thank you all very much! You are very kind to offer your comments. Once I get some chrome ones, I'm going for it! :)
