front floor mat problem

[2000GTS]

Ever since I bought the car I've been having problems with the drivers side floor mat.

It keeps slipping up. It has a clip from the factory, but it only holds for about 5 mins. Then the mat starts creeping up. This caused the old mats to deform at the top. I just got brand new ones from Dodge, They are doing the same thing.

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know ow to solve it?

I know this is a rather petty problem but I'm kind of anal when it comes to my car and this is really starting to frustrate me.

I have tried the Velcro and it just doesn't work. The best solution is to get a metal grommet kit from a hardware store and put one through each back corner of the mat. Then put a zip tie around the each front leg of the seat. Now get two releasable zip ties from ** Depo and put these through the grommets and through the seat zip ties. I have used this idea for several years and it has never failed. You might come up with a better way to grap the grommets, but this works fine.

Seriously, mine did that too, but tryrd the screw that comes with the mat one more time, and it has been holding for a little while now, and that includes a 500 mile drive yesterday to Tators

I bought floor mats from Snake Oyl Products and they are the best mats I have ever used. These things DO NOT slide forward. They are just such a tight fit. I really like them.

I found that if I slide the mat far enough forward it wedges in tight enough that it doesn't slide forward any more. Granted more of the floor just in front of the seat is exposed than I'd like but it's better then nothing.

I second the tie-wrap idea. I cut a slight slit in the floormat right near the seat mount... then I ran a tie-wrap through it and around the mount. no more slippage problems!

I just tried the following based on a hybrid of the 2 designs posted above. Using a small binder clip and an 8" cable tie, I've got a similar result with the flexibility of removing the mats easily for cleaning.

And just to follow up, this 10 cent solution (binder clip + cable tie) works perfectly. It is not visible unless you look under the seat. Thanks to everybody for their suggestions.
