Gen 1 Emergency Brake Help Needed

My e-brake lever goes up and down but no resistance (brake not engaging). This has happened on occation before but now it's all the time. Any ideas what my problem might be?

Mine has done the same thing for years on occassion. I just pull the handle sideways towards the drivers seat as I am pulling the handle up slowly. It will engage. At least for me it will. I don't know why it does it.

Pull the center console off and I had some levers/cams stuck, Did the exact same thing... spray of WD-40 fixed it. 10 minute fix, nothing serious.

The thought of leaving my beloved beast parked without the e-brake on wasn't a pleasant one.

I had a truck roll down a small incline once, while in gear, into a tree. Spun the entire power train in reverse. Crazy stuff.
