Hello!

I just secured a 2004 and the only thing in the carfax is that it was a buy back because of overheating problems. It was shipped back to the original Factory and fixed and then re-titled at 2000 miles. I have seen some others like this so must ne somewhat a common problem.

Anything I should be worried about?

Thanks!
Frank

I would say the opposite. Gen 3 overheat problems are not the norm. In the 6+ years since I bought my '04, I have not had problems and I hear alot more about gen 1 and 2 overheat by far.

Agree with steve911 on the infrequency of overheating in unmodified, street driven Gen III's.

As to your "Harmonic Balancer" reference...that CAN be an issue...especially on 04's...and needs to be checked/monitored as covered in multiple posts.

By the way...could the Gen III "cooling issues" be someone confusing/referencing the "Cooling Module Recall" seen on about 1300 of the 2003 Vipers...which could also effect the steering rack??

All that aside...you have a great ride...enjoy that Beast !!!
