In vegas right now, and saw a SRT vert on the pedestal for people to win by slots. Maybe it was the lighting and the sound of fake coins falling, but man, it was beautiful! I'll always be biased towards my first love, but the SRTs are a VERY close second.

I've been saving my pennies to get a new coupe, but the wifey wants a vert after seeing it again. Go figure. Can't wait to be a 2 snake household. :2tu:

Was it Silver?
I saw it last year and took pics with my phone. Not sure how I'd download them to a computer. Great vantage point though for the SRT/10

As far as Gen II and Gen III. Two different animals. "killer Animals"

Seems you've had an epiphany. :)
The 2 snake garage does sound good.

Not quite an epiphany... was always intending on adding a gen3, and always thought it looked great, and driven one enough to know it's a better car. But something about seeing it up there that brought it up a notch closer to my GTS. :2tu:

Andrew- I think someone won the silver SRT. It was there some months ago, but the one there now is red with metal/chrome badging.

By the way... stopped by the Speedway, and they had some Dodge event there... all sorts of old DC muscle cars- cudas and chargers- and a couple SRT trucks (no Vipers). Looked like a drag racing event. VOI9 should be awesome!

I count myself lucky, my wifey wanted a Lincoln or Escalade, got her the Lincoln, she let me get what I wanted,The FE Coupe..

Iam like you, the GTS(gen 11)is my first love also, and Iam very thankfull I still have her, but, the more I drive the Coupe the more I love it also, but never will it replace my GTS...

All it takes for a Gen II to run close to even with a Gen III is smooth tubes, K&N's, highflow cats and catback exhaust.

I raced my buddies 98 RT/10 with the above mods in my bone stock SRT and I was barely 1/2 of a car ahead of him at 140 mph. Those suckers get quick with bolt ons..:)

This is a far cry from what we used to read on this site a year ago.

I love how time has changed the attitudes or maybe the attitudes were few in number from the get go.

Great stuff!

Glad to hear! I've got a GTS and I just LOVE having another Viper that is 100% convertible. It just can't be beat... ;)

For the record, I am a Gen3er that loves the Gen2.

I think the GTS coupe is one of the best looking American cars ever, in the same Pantheon as the 1967 Vette, the 1970 Challenger/Cuda, and the Shelby Daytona Coupe. I think the GTS will go down in automotive history as one of the true classics of American style.

How come you weren't out at Mopars at the Strip?

And what if the same mods are made to a GenIII?

That's just straight line anyway. Accounts for maybe 30% of what a car is capable of. Try chasing a GenIII around a track. It'll take more than $2K in bolt ons to hang with him.

Didn't know it was there. Went to vegas on a work/play trip and just wanted to fly by the speedway on my way to Valley of Fire. There were some awesome Mopars there... the one that really stood out was the Superbird (wild wing). Wish I had my camera. :(

Chuck, what else do you think (besides more power) is better about the Gen3? Lower center of gravity? Better brakes? All of the above?

If so, what else would you need to bring Gen2 performance up to Gen3 standards? Stop techs, or Dave Cawthornes conversion? Lower it slightly, maybe put some tripple Penskes and Hypercoils on? All the above? Any other suggestions? I love the looks of my GTS, and would like to keep its capabilities current. If not for the looks, I'd get rid of it and get something better, but that shape just grabs me...

Gen3s are cool, and I know Viper has some great things coming down the pike, too...The Gen3 coupe is badazz looking, still beats the competition for looks by a wide margin.

The Gen III always looks better in person, it's always struck me as very aggressive looking, low and wide.

With that being said, I don't think it has the classic looks of the Gen II, mainly because the Gen III lines look too much like some other non-supercars in my opinion(Stratus,S2000,Miata). Don't flame, it's still a great car, and belongs in the Viper family no doubt :2tu:

I may be a bit biased however ;)

Yep, talking track.

In that case get Dave's SRT brake upgrade. Tom's rear caliper is good too but I forget if they are for ABS.
Wider fronts.
Get the car scaled - you'll need 3-way adjustable coilovers.
Quaife.
Find a few more HP from somewhere.

From there (everything else being stock) it's pretty much up to the drivers. Personally, it's more effort and money than I want to put into a car that is no longer being built, but that's up to you of course.

The adjustable shocks require track time to find out where you want rebound/compression. Then you go to another track and have to set them for that track. And if you are going to drive them on the street they will wear.
