I have worked with vinyl for years and have a very high-end vinyl cutter/printer. It is accurate to 1/16" over an 82' run.I started to do a fellow club members GTS and actually made a "kit". We gave up that evening and he had someone else finish it. It is very difficult to install and I would not recommend it to anyone that has never done it before. I actually took the scoop off my GTS and made a template for the machine to cut around the scoop. Another problem with vinyl is that it stretches and shrinks! So it might fit great today but tomorrow? The compound curves on the hood, bumpers and roof also are very challenging. If you feel froggy and want some vinyl, let me know what color you are looking for and I can make you a "kit" or just cut you some 8" stripes. When I did the last one, I just added about 4" to each run, hood, top, front bumper, etc. for a little fudge factor. It is actually easier for me to paint the stripes on than to put vinyl on!!

I had stripes put on 3 rt10's,and they looked good.Of course there was no duct, and no roof.I dont want to paint,as the stripes are a personal preferance, and I love them, but another eventual owner might not.Has any one else had any experiences with the vinyl on a GTS?

Bought my 98 used with vinyl stripes already applied - around the duct - very happy with the vinyl but don't have background on kit/vendor..

I had mine done 1-1/2 years ago. The thickness of the vinyl is probably less than paint would be, making the difference imperceptable. Most people that look/feel the stripes think they are painted. They took the stripes right thru the duct and did it free hand. If you pick someone who does vinyl stripes, the viper should not be a problem. I politely disagree about the stripes not being stable. There is about as much chance of them moving as there is the duct moving.

I fixed vinyl stripes on my old RT/10 which worked out well as when I sold it on the new owner didnt want stripes, so off they came and a quick polish and you couldnt tell they had been on, no paint fade. They had been applied for over 4 years

With the current GTS, I tried silver vinyl like the OE striping but prefered white,
I also cut around the duct to be different and continued the stripe inside the duct, I think the duct stands out more now.

Only use the best quality 10 year vinyl I prefer 3M material, your looking at a good days work. I actually applied the stripes quicker on the GTS than the RT/10 with hardtop (I work with vinyl) Its not an easy job !

Since then I've fitted 10" stripes to a ram

Thanks for the input. As I said before,my reason is for a personal pref. The car did not come with stripes, and the next owner may want it without.I am aware of the differance in appearance.I have painted stripes on 4 rt10's,and put vinyl on 3 of them.I am not considering painting them on.But again, thanks for the input Bruce.
