Ok, I know the basic idea behind heal/toe downshifting my question is, is there any trick to doing it in a stock Viper. I've tried a couple of times but I don't feel comfortable with my braking abilitie while I'm trying to blip the throttle. I either don't push the brake hard as I'd like or I can't blip the throttle smoothly. Any little tricks or is it just pratice. I don't go to the track very often and for daily driving don't really need to be able to but I'd like to if I can.

Also any thought on double clutching. From what I've read it's not something that's very praticle in modern cars. It was mainly to help prevent wear on some bearings or something and modern cars the bearing are more durable.

In my mustang I could do it real easy, I would push the brake with the inside of my right foot (right under my big toe)while bending my ankle and pushing the clutch with the outside of my right foot (right below the little toe), at the same time. The pedals were close enough and it was easy. In my Viper, the pedals are further apart and that makes it hard for me to do it that way. Maybe we need after market pedals that are wider and closer together

It takes practice. There isn't much room under there either.

Start doing it when you don't need to brake much. Get used to it without the real need to slow way down, just concentrate on being able to touch both pedals a little.

After awhile you will be confident in being able to do what you need to do with one foot and two pedals.

I installed aftermarket pedals to make this much easier. Now I need to wear narrow shoes to avoid hitting the gas by mistake if aiming for the brakes  , that's the only downside.
