Was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this viper? How much is should reasonably go for, ect. I e-mailed the guy and he said the head gaskets had been replaced so that's good. Let me know thanks. Here's the Viper

IMO its a nice car, all vipers are, but i'd rather spend a little more and get a gen 2 windows are functional more hp etc etc . I think the 94 have the jeep style windows dont they? IMO i wouldnt spend that much money on a car with those zip jeep style windows. Gen 2 have better rims, less problems, more HP, real windows that roll up and down etc etc. But if gen 1 cars are your liking then thats a nice looking car IMO.

The only problem is that from what I can see, you can get a generation 1 (92-96?) anywhere from 30-40k I'm sure the 97's and above are going for at least 45-55k. I'm suprised no one has come up with a creative work around to the window situation.

It all comes down to personal preference and cash. I love my Gen 1. While it would be nice to have "real" windows, I actually prefer the look of my chromed 3 spokes, smooth hood, and side exhaust. Yes, the head gasket issue is well known - so make sure the job was done - as you can actually see the head gasket from below.

Best quote I've seen that describes my thought about Gen 1's:

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

That Viper has been on ebay for a while. I called about it before i bought my Viper about a month ago. Guy seemed very knowledgeable and nice, so i'm not sure why the car hasnt sold yet. I know its been relisted atleast twice since I called about it. I wanna say he told me the reserve was $37k (or thereabouts).

Keep in mind the '94 will probably be the least sought after and therefore the cheapest Viper of all. It had the highest production numbers, no special paint schemes, and the associated problems of the Gen I. If you want a Gen one I would suggest a '96 and pay around $40K. IMHO.

I don't necessarily want a Viper for collector value. The Viper mania windows are sweet, seems like everything is at least a 1,000 add on. So at this point I'll probably either go for a 94 or try and get a Gen II. I don't really know the difference between the RT/10's and the GTS's. I would like to get a 97 or 98 RT/10 but all I see are the GTS's. Thanks for everyone's help.

That's because they are so rare. Look at the build numbers per year. 117 cars made for the 97 year and 379 for the 98

the only 1997 RT I've seen available in a couple of years :2tu:
