The engine - drive train investment got a lot of return for the money. The power is up, the torque curve is fat, the lighter valve train, pistons and clutch makes the engine more responsive, the gear box changes makes the car more trackable, and the rear ratio makes the car more streetable without having to shift. Reducing the engine weight makes for better car balance. Strengthening other parts within the engine give the engine the ability to absorb more the power without other extensive changes for reliability. I'd would have loved to see DI but that would have cost a lot more money to develop. Maybe DI later. ;)
