National Trails was my home NHRA track in the sixties and early seventies, when I was running Super Stock for Oldsmobile. My very first points race was at this track and who do you think I pulled in the first round of eliminations. . .GRUMPY BILL JENKINS. I had the jump since I was running SSFA and he was running SSA. At the 1000 ft mark he flew past me so fast, I could not believe it. That was the end of my day. I eventually put a 455 modified SS engine in my 69 Olds Cutlass and converted it to SSBA and ran more competitively.
