First off when I first saw it installed on the car I was shocked how low the actually shifter is! It almost looks like it is stuck in the boot! I attached a picture, is this the normal height that it is supposed to be?

The shifter definitely feels very good, the throws are incredibly shorter then the stock shifter. Reverse is hard to put into though. 5th gear also seemed a bit harder to find, but I know it will take getting use to.

Also I noticed when I put it in 6th gear it seems as if there is more vibration and noise coming from the shifter then I remembered. Anyone else have this?

Overall I am very happy with it. I only drove the car about 20 minutes with it installed and I am getting use to the height and the feeling of these short throws, compared to stock is still amazing me. It almost feels like a toy car with a fake shifter, it just barley moves into each gear. I love it though.

p.s. the center console is dirty from them installing it, its normally immaculate! :D

Looks right to me - it's very short and the stock shifter is so tall that it seems odd initially. Had mine for about 400 miles now and I love it.

You nay want to get the MGW shifter bezel. It is lower and provides more clearance for your hand.

That is the right height. MGW has a nicer ball to use with the shifter if interested also. Fifth is and reverse is a bit tougher to find but i found the height and gear engagement perfect. In fact I tried all shifter heights with the hurst included a shortened stock, a mgw with a short shafter but finally found that the shifter was perfect with just the ball.

enjoy.

I agree with GR8 & Nader. Check out a lower profile bezel ,from MGW, as well as their balls. Well, I mean, don't "Check" out their balls :bonker: ...but look at the variety of their replacement shifter balls (Gripper has a breat feel, fit/finish)

Thanks for the replies everyone! I drove it today and can honestly say i love it! Makes the car even more fun to drive, and damn it shifts fast!

I was charged about $370 to install this at the dealer, i feel that is A LOT fr installation, but i did it anyway, what has anyone else paid for this to install? The installation cost me more then the actual shifter and ball.

what is the model # of the hurst shifter you had installed? It would be the same in a Gen 2, wouldn't it?
I think they are the same, the instructions said it would fit a Gen 2, although i did not look at it much since i did not install it.

Part # on the shifter is P4510168 and the yellow ball i got was P5153303

I paid 240 ish for the shifter and installed it myself from the help of other members. Took about 1 1/2 hrs from start to finish, I wanted the learning experience and the install went well.

The vibration you are feeling is caused by the fact that you no longer have the factory rubber damper that came with the stock shifter. George at MGW has 3 leather covered shifter knobs with chrome viper fang logos availble in different heights that fit the Hurst/Mopar shifter. You can see these on my web site at http://www.members.aol.com/AtroRacingTeam/PRODUCTS/AtRoRacingsProductCatalog. Call George at MGW as they are hard to find on his web site.
