I left the dome light on for a few days and the battery died. Once it got running again it had a hard time finding a typical idle. It was high at first, then it started bogging down and revving back up trying to find a sweet spot. That went on for a few days. Today, it finally got back to a reasonable idle but the check engin light came on. Do you think teh computer is still playing catchup? seems to be running good, despite teh crazy heat down here (central Texas).

car is a 97 GTS bone stock with 8500 miles. it's red, I understand that makes it run differently :)

make sure the battery is completely charged correctly, then do what bluesrt told you to do. keep in mind a new battery might be needed

Thanks guys. The discharge/reset did the trick. no more Check engine light. I also charged the AC. we're rolling cool again :) big deal, seeing as it's been damn near 100 here every day.
