Anyone have them? I'm aware that the 96 and 97 cast wheels are prone to break at the track. However, I'm not going to track my car, just for launching at traffic lights occasionally. I'm thinking about putting the Kumho MX up front and the V700 in the rear. Thanks!

Either should be fine for strigh line performance. It's the curves that take out he cast wheels(1996 only). Check for a weld line around the center of the rim.

I have had the V700's for about a week. Not been to the track yet, but stick and GO on the street!

Fronts crack after repeated cycles of heavy g-loading with super-sticky tires. I wouldn't worry as long as you have a good idea of the kind of life the wheels lived before you got them.

Search: "96 cast/welded wheel failures" and do your own homework.

Thank you for the responses.

I have the 96 wheels with V700s all around.

What do you want to know?

Joe, I'd like to know if it's safe to run the V700's on the 96 wheels. I'm afraid that the wheels might get broken when paired with sticky tires under hard acceleration (i.e. 1/4 mile run).

I never heard of anyone except road racers having trouble with those wheels.

But perhaps someone else has.
