Anyone out there have some take off mufflers from a gen 3 or 4 they'd be willing to part with cheap? I don't need the full system, just the mufflers. I could probably even do without the tips, though that might be handy just in case the ones from my old Borla setup don't fit. I'm trying to quiet down my cam as the car is getting pretty unbearable to drive for my work commute and pretty much every aftermarket system is designed to be louder to some degree. Figured the factory stuff would be the most quiet, but didn't want to dump too much money into it in case it doesn't work out.

Picked up a set yesterday, thanks! Fingers crossed they'll get me what I'm looking for on volume.

Will probably dramatically reduce the heat in the cockpit too

My car has never actually had the crossover since I bought it. It's been through a lot of exhausts over the years though. Bought it with a set of Borla catbacks already installed, then went to M&M headers with no cats and the same Borla mufflers. Both of these made some noise, but it wasn't awful. Then I did a cam swap and the volume went way up. Originally tried putting a cat back into the exhaust to tamp it down, but the cam and tune did not like it and I swear at one point the interior was getting smoky, so I pulled the cats back off. Tried going up to the 3" Mopar race exhaust because the 2.5" system was really "puffy" and had a lot of exhaust velocity which gave it quite the pulsing sound. I really like the Borla sound and the 3" was the same style, so was hoping it would keep the tone. The 3" did mellow out the pulsing, but the low end frequency and drone on the highway is pretty bad. I know going back to the stock 2.5" will probably bring back the exhaust "puff" sound, but hoping it will at least tone down the volume.

My favorite sound was the original sound of factory exhaust with just the Borla 2.5" catback. Half tempting to go back to a stock cam one of these days, but that's a fair amount of work.

I'm a bit late here but I've always been a fan of Magnaflow and Vibrant. Those two brands seem to make the best perforated core mufflers that actually reduce how loud the exhaust is. You'd want the longest mufflers you can get under there and with them being perforated core, they will actually flow a bit better than a straight pipe.

So far I've been fairly happy with the OEM mufflers after I got them installed. I don't think I'll ever be able to have what I truly want, but at least now it's less of a chore to drive the car. It's fairly pleasant to cruise in, but still too loud for a drive thru. It's kind of weird because it doesn't seem too loud if you're in the open, but the second anything gets next to you it almost sounds louder than it did before with the 3" system. Probably just the exhaust velocity and pulses bouncing off of stuff next to you. It also has some kind of strange high pitched sound I can't quite describe at times. Almost like a whistle, but not quite.

Overall though, I don't dread commuting in it anymore, so it's a win in my book. On the plus side, I think my tune actually likes them more as well. I wouldn't have thought it would make that much difference, and I know the adaptives should cover some of it, but the thing used to reek of fuel when I parked it in the garage before. Now it's mostly gone.

I have a complete Gen 5 system with 1000 miles. ACR tips. This would fit your car and has the higher flowing cats

Most guys junk them, you should be able to get a set for free.

Hey MM, just a thought, assuming you are not completely happy with the sound, use a set of 3" spiral mufflers in front of the Borla mufflers. I think you will find it might be what you are looking for. I know sound is subjective, but the spirals do a great job in smoothing out the pulse from that big V-10

So far I've been pretty happy with the OEM mufflers, though good to know I might have some options. Getting back to the stock size vs the race mufflers does open up the front a little more to allow me to add additional stuff if I wanted though, so that's a good point. The race mufflers are longer than the OEM ones and are basically the same length as the OEM mufflers with the rear cat attached, so there was no room in front of them to add anything else to quite things down. With the shorter ones back on I guess I could add some kind of intermediate muffler or something in front to help tame the noise a little more if I wanted.
