When I'm parked and talking to people, one of the most frequent requests I get is "will you rev it up?" I know not to do anything stupid like hit the rev limiter, but how high can I safely rev without risking potential damage?

I go to 5. I figure if the engine can't take a little neutral revving, then it's not as "bulletproof" as everyone says it is.

Anything under 6200 rpm should suffice, however, I rarely will go to over three thousand. Reving my engine for others enjoyment is not my cup of tea.

did a search found this and was wondering the original question....is revving in neutral up to 5500 bad for it? I know I have done it when I pulled up to a friends house instead of a doorbell

Rev Away, to redline if you want. Provided the oil is warm. But a quick burst to 4k oughtta impress. I usually ask for fuel donations or tire donations depending on the requestor.....

(Think about this: is it 'easier' on the motor when its DRIVING at redline pulling 3300 lbs?)

I can't tell you how many times I bounced off the rev limiter (usually on the track though). An aluminum flywheel makes her wind up noticably quicker, and sounds better with the Belanger headers & catbacks and the Randomtech cats :D

Ditch the cats...it will sound even better...louder...but better. :2tu:

I just give it a quick rev to 5k. That's enough for (and these are things I've seen happen) A woman to drop a compact, kids, dogs and cats to run away, my wife to scream, Grown men smile, Corvette owner to turn pale....and last but not least...

...a really hot ******* girl ask for my number....shame I'm faithful.

Just don't do it when the engine os cold, as long as it idles for atleast 2 minutes your good!

That's what I figured, but I have heard different things... thanks guys. Now I just have to wait till spring to rev in my new found confidence:headbang:
