I had a similar, soft intermittent whirring sound in September, and the shop replaced the belt, tensioner, and pulley. Now it's back. Very infrequent. This time I noticed that when I depress the clutch pedal it goes away. Thoughts?

Had a very similar issue with my Gen-5 a few weeks ago. Turned out to be the pressure plate (and the release bearing was shot). Had the clutch replaced and... problem solved.

I forgot to mention that I replaced the clutch when the slave cylinder went five years (and 12,000 miles) ago. Ugh!

Likely throw out bearing but really could be any part in the driveline. Driveline harmonics will travel throughout the frame. if not throw out bearing then I’d check all other bearings (tail shaft, wheels, axle, etc)

Might be internal transmission, when you press the clutch it disengages the transmission and gear train stop spinning. Even in neutral.
