Can anybody tell me what a Gen III Paxton Viper with headers, hi flow cats, and a tune will do in the quarter mile?

What about 0-60mph?

For both, fairly competent driver behind the wheel!

I want to compare this to the 2008 Viper numbers seen in all the magazines.

With DR's and a fair track prep, not a great track prep, (not only S/C'd but 3:55's), 1.72 60ft, and 10.28 at 138.51 mph. Drag racer from clear back in the mid 60's.....yup, I'm getting old!

Jon 2002 ACR ran a 10.90 on Dr's with a Paxton, otherwise stock car.

He now has quite a few mods and him and I are going to Sac raceway next Saturday the 14th to run them. As long as track is prepped decent, we should hit some 10's. He will be on 18" Dr's again, Ill be on 19/20" PS2 tires. Hope we get a few good runs in and dont get kicked out for lack of safety equipment :D

So low 11's or high 10's?

No drag radials here. S/C, headers, and corsa and 19/20 with PS2's is what I am after.

What about 0-60mph?

Run lower air pressure in rear. If you can pull a 1.8 60 ft, which is possible, you should get high 10's. I wouldnt worry much about 0-60. A supercharged Viper with tons of torque really isnt about 0-60mph. You'll make most of your time the last half of the track. Good luck, Ill be there next weekend at drag strip, so Im getting excited.

So do you think a supercharged gen III is slower than a gen IV n/a to 60 mph?

It depends on how the cars are equipped and the driver. If the Paxtonized Gen III has the stock run flats and the Gen IV is stock, the Gen IV, because of the much improved shifting, the improved differential, the fact that it does not have to be shifted before sixty, and the PS2's will achieve a fast 0 to 60 time with less driver skill input required than an equivalent run with the Paxtonized Gen III with run flats and the older tranny, shifter and differential. However, assuming the driver has practiced rolling into the throttle with a Paxtonized Gen III and is skillful with the old tranny and shifter, a faster 0 to 60 time is possible.

My '06 had run flats and stock '06 tranny ( the shifter springs were tightened up a bit ) and differential prior to the end of this January. In January I had an '08 tranny, yolk, driveshaft, differential, and PS2's put on the car. I also had a prototype ( at that time ) MGW shifting mechanism put in. With alot of practice and concentration I could do 0 to 60 runs pretty well with the car the way it was. Now, it is much easier. I can shift with complete confidence and the traction is much better. I also have Racelogic traction control but I have set it so that it really does not come into play with respect to this issue. It can be set with slippage from 0 to 25%. It can also be completely turned off. It has a launch function but i do not use it.

I recently had the opprtunity to drive the '08 at the SRT Track experience. On the cone course they set up they let me stay in first a bit more because I was an experienced Viper driver. I was able to throw the rear end around a teensy bit before the ride along told me to stop it. The bottom line: my car is much faster than an '08. And, since I am used to 743 HP, the '08 seemed tame.

Thanks for that.

Does anybody have 0-60mph times with a paxton viper using ps2's and stock tranny/differential and only upgrade beyond that is headers and exhaust. Stock bottom end.

Thanks....

Ran a 1/8 mile track @ 2 months ago for my first time track experience. 05 SRT vert car has Paxton, 3:55's, Corsa exhaust, Alluminum flywheel, stock tranny and PS2s. I feel I could've done better, though. I was spinning half way down the track--traction definitely a problem. Times were:

60 ft = 1.9
1/8 time = 7.92
Trap = 98 mph

R/T: .554 sec
60': 2.004 sec
330': 5.169 sec
1/8 mile: 7.715 sec @ 97.84mph
1000': 10.101 sec
1/4 mile: 11.930 @ 129.62

1st and 2nd gear were useless with the run craps.
