One Time Power Loss

Ok so I was driving my Viper today to get my new rims put on. By the time I got to the highway my car was at operating temp. I hit the on ramp to the highway, start to merge on the highway in 4th. Drop to 3rd and gave it about 80 percent throttle at about 50mph and the car just died down like it went into a limp mode. No lights, nothing else, didn't repeat itself. Any ideas? I have read this before from someone else on here but I do not know how to search it. It is fine now but that has made me curious. I have a 2001 GTS.

Honestly no I am not positive, that could have happened. It happened so fast I threw it into neutral and went back to 4th. I might try to road test that tomorrow when I pick my car up. Didn't think of that.
